Just found out the other day that a good friend of mine now works for the UN in Geneva. Apparently it is the most boring city in the world

Yay - now we'll see even less of our president - how is this a good thing? If mbeki wants to be the life of the UN - he should stay (don't come back) seeing as he's never here in the first place!

I want a real president - someone who stays at home - and sorts out the thousands of real problems in our country - starting with people being murdered, tortured and dying in the most horrific fashion.

Then he could acknowledge HIV - and XDR-TB - and perhaps he could even give the useless DoC a kick up the butt - but africa is more important - seems he has never heard of SOUTH AFRICA.

OR Tambo > Jan Smuts

Cool news , since Jan Smuts played an important role in the development of the U.N. :)

See my comment on Post #8 of this thread.

Now that we are on the Security Council we cannot even be proud of Old Oom Smuts as his name was removed from the International Airport at Johannesburg and replaced with a neutral name.
Of course that has since changed again and need I go into detail about the Airport Naming Saga.

If there is ever true sanity to prevail in Politics in this country I say that the Airport should return to it's neutral name of JIA again.

Jan Smuts probably the best leader South Africa has ever had whisked under the carpet.
When the new delegation goes to the UN I hope they have the ability to take into account and just simply sit there and visualise in their minds people like Jan Smuts that played such a crucial part in it's history, if they can.
