A South African team has tried to break the Guinness World Record for making a full-length movie in the shortest time ever, it was reported on Wednesday.

"Shotgun Garfunkel" was created in less than 11 days, from conception to production, and the film premiered in Johannesburg on Saturday, Beeld reported.

To qualify for the record, the agencies Team Best, Loca-Lala and Ghost Sheep were not allowed to work on a concept, characters or script, before timing started.

The comedy the created tells the story of friends who try and recapture the glory of their party days.

Tiffany Jones-Barbuzano, a producer and actor in the film, said pre-production began on May 1.

She said the script was written in three days, filming took four days and editing was done in the rest of the time.

The record of 11 days and 23 hours has been held by the Indian film Sivappu Mazhai.

"We decided we could do better," Jones-Barbuzano said.

How can they prove conception took place in a finite amount of time. These guys could have thought up the story long before.
