I read on a few forums people talking about the effect the foreigners have on our internet line speed since they are here for the soccer. Is this going to affect our line speed for the whole duration of the world cup and was telkom not prepared for the amount of usage:mad:

Telkom has purchased additional international bandwidth from Seacom (yes, shock and horror) just in case they cannot cope with their capacity on SAT-3/SAFE. They also upgraded SAT-3 a few months ago.

Got this from one site Are we talking about IS news server or IS in general? Since yesterday morning 1AM IS network has been weird. They have a software change to a London POP apparently. The office IS line was useless most of yesterday and since 1AM I've noticed I just can't get to some sites. The thing is fast when it loads sites, but there's a bunch (stuff like imageshack, blogs.msdn.com and arb stuff like that) that just never load. newsdemon and astraweb are still fully functional though.

Have IS once again really stuffed themselves up or what?

I cannot speak on behalf of IS.

Yes they do, there are many ISP's using IS services. Aren't they the main internet line providers in SA?

oh OK but Axxess and Aerosat use IS on most of their packages, it would depend on which package you are though. I think on the uncapped packages they use IS and the other SAIX.

Greets! I know who is where... this thread looks all disjointed as we had a troll here and he messed things around quite a bit. I directed the question to him!!!!
