SA niche alternative to Twitter

A day late and a dollar short. Twitter has the market pretty much sewn up by now.
 
tried twitter...but find it a painfull experience, not really interested in what breakfast friend x has, or how much fun friend y had, or about friends Q's sad sad breakup...this sounds atleast sllightly more usefull

As I keep telling people... You're not using twitter correctly if you're looking to see what your friend had for breakfast.

yes you keep going on and on like a broken telephone, but the point of the fact is that what most people DO use it like that. So get off of your soapbox.

that site is lame, they didnt even write there own software for the service. morons.

Look bud, I heard all the same things about 5 years ago when I told people about this little website I quite liked.... you may have heard of it, its called "facebook"

Apparently it's pretty big now.

I don't why you're getting so upset by my trying to educate people about twitter?

Firstly I'm not you bud. Secondly, that site is a blatant rip off of twitter, if they where perhaps different and took the effort to write there own code base perhaps they would get some respect, anyone can download a code base and install it and name it, it really doesn't take much effort.

I'm not upset with you educating people, or what you claim to be educating. as i see it as your opinion of what twitter is used for. And further more what twitter is not used for is in fact being used exactly like that. There are the odd few who use it differently, but the majority use it exactly like 'i went to bed, the sleep was awesome', 'i really hope this testicle wart clears up today'. What you call education i'm sure people see as punting.

Why on earth would you choose to 'follow' those people on Twitter? No wonder you've got issues. Remove them from your roll.

I personally love twitter, though I hardly tweet. The way I use it is to be in touch with breaking news, updates, events, etc.
