The ANC might be celebrating now but what are they going to do next year to pass their budget? I don't think AuctionSA is stupid enough to fall for the same trick for a third time.
You're clearly not paying attention. The DA is the one always being played.

The ANC is only underestimated by the DA and it's supporters hence the constant chest pains when the ANC pulls one over them.

The 2026 budget will pass without the DA just like the 2025 one did. The DA is not special. 🙂

ASA is the party who got played and will continue to be played..
Their kindergarten PR games are the source of laughter

We will never forget who increased vat : @MalcomZ , @TheChamp

EFF joins the DA's legal action against the ANC in the Western Cape High Court challenging the report to the finance committee.

ASA not everyone is stupid as you think they are...

I don't think they're necessarily stupid, but they got played to some level in this whole process and are now having to deal with the consequences, and those consequences are going to be significant in next years election where voters are much more "attuned" to their day to day lives, and something like a VAT increase is a clear and present impact on that.

They're hoping for some ministry positions if DA leaves...

Found this interesting from Tony Leon

Paywalled I guess but guts is that ZAR could head to R21/$ (Investec) if DA bails, crooked Mokonyane going to have to work (sic) hard to lift it up again. He sees mashatile as amateurishly eager to get the DA out and take over from Cyril.

Also, Moletsi Mbeki from SARS & IMF data found that 63% of state revenue is spent on salaries and 21% on debt service, 84% total spent before grants, infrastructure, the material needs of health policing etc etc. 42% unemployment and debt portion likely to increase as ZAR depreciates. Not good numbers, to me anyway, maybe a state employee likes them.

They have to be stupid to get played by basic parliamentary process. They were told not to vote on it twice, but doubled down and voted on it twice.

If they're not stupid then it was intentional to get cabinet posts, which is even worse...

That would be my guess as well, some positions or level of "power" in exchange for their support and they possibly underestimated the anger that would generate from their voters.

So I'm not necessarily thinking they got played on the process per se, but the whole thing... they became the ANC's useful idiot.
