It won't pass. Public is already questioning why we are not forcing the respecting of our laws, especially for someone who hates South Africa like Elon.

The political ramifications of this should it pass would be monumental on the business landscape of SA. Mashatile's group in the ANC, EFF and MK will fight this.

Given recent history, Cyril doesn't always come out on top in such battles.

Hey Squirrel where is the R274 million rand that was supposed to fix a 30 km stretch of road?
Money was paid to a certain construction company in February 2025.
F u c k all has been done to the road.
Born thieves.

All of this is wishful thinking.

Well done 1 factory whoop!!! .. how many points did our unemployment rate decline ? Squat... because it's still high

Oopsie... Chinese going to have to build millions of factories to make a dent.
I don't understand why you are getting excited, the point i am making is about the other manufacturers who were claiming China has an unfair advantage since they don't build cars here.

Are you able to talk to that or do you just want to rant?

The EFF and now the MK have spoken. More to come.

It doesn't look like they are going to win, in most cases the two thrive on a divided ANC alliance, in this case Cisatu had no opposition to the gazetted amendments.

Elon is a very unlikeable and an annoying person but it is very silly to run a country on feelings, if having Starlink here adds value there is no reason why it shouldn't operate here if they comply with local transformation laws.

The proposed amendments doesn't look like anything exceptional since they are already in use in other industries.

Your post quotes.

We encourage more Chinese automakers to build factories in South Africa, to create more jobs and boost value-added growth for local

I show you our unemployment rate and it actually increased (not a good thing Champo).

O wait.. you don't care for employment rates/VAT etc like you said last time when you happy with VAT increase and no job creation prospects.

So you just want to rant, because there is absolutely nothing wrong with what the Ambassador is saying.

Problem is it's not just about Elon but the precedent being set here.

Are you fine with your organization setting the foundations that will ultimately stop the transformation agenda? It will cost the ANC next year and in 2029.

I forsee the ANC getting +-20% in 2029 should they abandon the transformation agenda via scrapping BEE, AA and other laws aimed at reducing the inequality along racial lines stemming from apartheid in South Africa.

It's a guy who is actually trying to help this country.

Herman doesn't help this country..
You don't help a country by having one set of rules for the rich who cry like brats when they don't get their way and another for the poor.

Besides, I doubt this will go through.

Who's "wealthy"? How much tax is that? They should work out the wealth tax in US dollars.
Who's wealthy? Really?

We start with a easy 10%.

White people who are wealthy due to apartheid and black people who are wealthy due to corruption these past 30 years are the wealthy that will be targeted. 🙂

It's truly a desperate stretch to say the amendments are the same as scrapping BEE or the transformation agenda.

The clause did not exist until it was introduced in 2016, does it mean there wasn't any BEE or transformation all along? And the clause doesn't apply to other sectors of the industry, does that mean there is no transformation happening in those sectors?

The EFF and MK are just useless with their attitude of being slaves to ideology.
