Undocumented immigrants are criminals, they are not entitled to medical treatment, says Herman Mashaba, leader of ActionSA.
Should the Constitution be changed to keep out undocumented immigrants? It is non-negotiable. If we want to make the country work, the Constitution must be changed drastically. The Bill of Rights and the nonsense that South Africa belongs to everyone who lives in the country. We are in a mess because of that. South Africa belongs to South Africans, not everyone who lives here. Criminals from all over the world are coming here.
Are you jumping on Trump and Europe's anti-immigration bandwagon now? If you say we are anti-immigrant, I say you are anti-South Africans, against poor people. They suffer the worst in terms of crime. These people enter the country illegally and do not stay where you live, but in Alexandra or Hammanskraal, so people like you do not care about them.
Doesn't the solution lie in better law enforcement at the borders? You can’t fix the country by focusing on just one thing. There is massive corruption and mismanagement here. But there are so many cases in the Constitutional Court, the country cannot move forward. The Constitution says that if people from Pakistan or Nigeria come here, we must look after them. We can’t even look after 54% of our own people. Don’t we care about our own people?
Does ActionSA know exactly to what extent undocumented immigrants are a burden on our country? When I was mayor of Johannesburg, they hijacked buildings where up to 80% of the people were undocumented. If you want to vacate the buildings, the so-called human rights lawyers come and protect them. The court says you have to provide them with alternative accommodation, but in Johannesburg there was a backlog of 300 000 houses for legal South Africans. They just come here for medical care and open businesses in their own countries with our medication, while our clinics and hospitals can no longer function. In poor communities, there are up to 100 children in school classes. Your children don’t go through that, it’s the children of places like Alexandra, Soweto and Hammanskraal.
Don’t undocumented immigrants have basic human rights? Basic human rights of criminals?
Not everyone is a criminal, after all? What is a criminal in your world? Someone who enters the country illegally is a criminal.
And the idea that neighboring countries helped South Africans during the struggle, that we should help them now? What help did we get from Pakistan? Did Bangladesh play a role in our struggle?
It’s not immigrants’ fault that our border control is so weak? Don’t confuse things, the Constitution is a big problem, it gives rights to criminals. South Africa belongs to South Africans. We will do other issues, like better border control, too. But currently the courts decide in favor of the criminals, not obedient law enforcers. People like you don't really feel the impact of this. They don't come to live in your neighborhood. That's why it's easy for you to defend them.
What should they do in a medical emergency? For a visa to France or England, you need medical insurance.
Those countries have better border control. If you're caught as an illegal criminal, you're not entitled to free services from our government.
Isn't the right of people to dignity enshrined in the Constitution? Do you care about the dignity of someone in Alexandra who is surrounded by undocumented immigrants? For the rights of those people? Or do you think they don't have rights, and that the children of Alexandra should be 80 in a class?
So what if the undocumented immigrants end up in hospital emergency departments? Then they're not entitled to treatment.
They can just die? So, don't you care about our people who die every day because our hospitals can no longer handle the patient load?
Is it immigrants' fault that our hospitals are mismanaged? So, it's easy for you, because you don't care about the plight of poor people. Talk to ordinary South Africans, when they are looking for work, employers would rather hire illegal immigrants. Shoprite Checkers with their 60whatever and their motorbikes, they hire undocumented foreigners! People like you enjoy all these benefits, you don't care about South Africans who are unemployed. You don't care, that's why you ask me these questions. Poor black South Africans are not your problem.
Don't immigrants also contribute to the economy? Yes, because people like you are benefited by them and then you don't care about the plight of poor black South Africans. Have you ever cared about the 12 million unemployed South Africans? 54% of them don't know where their next meal is going to come from, but you want me to worry about someone from Pakistan, Nigeria or Mexico? My value system and yours are completely different.
Imagine you were an anti-apartheid activist and hid MK operatives in your house, but now you somehow have "Verwoerdian values"... Also, the usual "What about Khayelitsha?" meme appears here.Helen Zille is considering becoming the mayoral candidate for Johannesburg, but you say she has racism in her DNA? She has Verwoerdian values. That is very strange to ActionSA – someone who does not care about the people. You and she come from the same background. We will take the people of Johannesburg to Khayelitsha and Guguletu so that they can decide if they want this.
You have already said that if someone says Zille is a racist, that person is a racist. This was before I got to know her personally.
Helen says you have no other argument than the race card. She mobilised white councillors against me by saying I am an EFF mayor, because she did not want to provide services to people who do not pay taxes.
75% of Cape Town’s budget is used for infrastructure in the poorer areas. Let Helen show you where she spends her 75%. In Khayelitsha they do not have toilets, rubbish is not collected...
We have laws that deal with illegal immigrants.
Another Herman special. The guy is very anti-constitution and quite racist... A stone's throw away from uniting behind MK...
The best part...

Just like when vat was raging and Malcom and champy were so active. It does. The faux concern and raging speak volumes.
Exactly. It's part of the populist effort to get rid of the Constitution, so SA can be a true free-for-all.We have laws that deal with illegal immigrants.
Arrest then, make sure of their documentation status then deport them
No change to the constitution.
That's why I specifically mentioned that I am speaking about the ones similar to what the DA uses, they are not Twitter polls, are they?Depends on methodology and if it's a Twitter poll or not...
What does that say about the DA? I thought it was merit based selection all the way?Anyone know about the progress about Phumzile's fake racism "event" at V&A? It's hilarious how many of these ex-DA people fall off by the wayside after they leave the DA illustrating that once again they were elected not because who they are but because they brand they represented.
He is obviously not happy about those laws, that's how living in a democracy works, the DA is also not happy about how policing works in the country, you can't just say there are laws and that's it, anyone is allowed to disagree with those laws or call for their enhancement. We have laws that deal with illegal immigrants.

Is she still a DA member? People can change and go crazy. This is a fake argument you lose 10/10 times. What does that say about the DA? I thought it was merit based selection all the way?
I am not the one who is inadvertently casting aspersions on the DA's selection process, and if you pride yourself in your superior selection processes, the rogues should be an exception. Is she still a DA member? People can change and go crazy. This is a fake argument you lose 10/10 times.
How many ANC officials are merit based?

I'm not overly sold on polls. It all depends on the methology used. Time will tell. That's why I specifically mentioned that I am speaking about the ones similar to what the DA uses, they are not Twitter polls, are they?
I want to understand what would convince him besides an actual election, also hoping in the process I would understand if there's anything he is relying on for his assertion.
There are no rules you are DA 4 life. People will do what is best for themselves. Is she still a DA member? People can change and go crazy. This is a fake argument you lose 10/10 times.

Well it doesn't matter what rules are there if the ruling party is blind to them.He is obviously not happy about those laws, that's how living in a democracy works, the DA is also not happy about how policing works in the country, you can't just say there are laws and that's it, anyone is allowed to disagree with those laws or call for their enhancement.
Sex, drugs 'n rock 'n roll in the stolen money
The way I see it, a single poll in the grand scheme of things doesn't mean too much (except bringing severe pain to cadres watching racist DA surpass them...), I would rather look at polls + by-election trends in the run-up to an election. That's why I specifically mentioned that I am speaking about the ones similar to what the DA uses, they are not Twitter polls, are they?

Nah it's just cos nobody has done our version of socialism/communism/whateverism right yet. Ours will be better.
