I'm trying to figure it out tho.

So the DA has a strong hold over what I assume is the middle class and rich. They also slightly lead among the poor, but would the second graph be working-class South Africans?

Had to share this because this is typical Mashaba, interviewer questions are in bold:
You boasted last week that there will be no VAT increase, but FNB and Vodacom say it will come on May 1. Who is lying? Nobody. The banks must work on the assumption that the VAT increase will come on May 1. They must inform their clients. The bill must be advertised. So, until the Minister of Finance comes up with a proposal to stop the VAT increase, these procedures must be followed. Read our recommendation for the Treasury to find other sources of revenue.

And Pres. Ramaphosa? He told EWN that it is unlikely that the Treasury will find the money elsewhere? That is because he is not doing his job. He is more focused on shoving money under mattresses than saving the country. The president of any country takes ownership of the budget. The minister of finance acts on behalf of the president. I tell you now: Pres. Ramaphosa did not really look at our proposals. Our recommendation was alternative sources of revenue worth R110 billion. One thing we have learned from the ANC is that they do not take ownership of their responsibilities. Pres. Ramaphosa just talks, as if he does not really see the implications.

Does ActionSA realise that you have only made a recommendation to the fiscal framework, not an amendment? Yes, it is a recommendation that we, the parties who voted for it, are going to make happen.

Then why did you brag on social media that you made an amendment? Are you aware that if we had not made the recommendation, the country would not have a budget now? And that the increased VAT would have come anyway?

But now the 0.5% increase in VAT is going to kick in on 1 May anyway? Are you a member of parliament who will vote with us?

Your proposals must be tabled in an amendment bill by 1 May, but parliament is in recess until 22 April. Is there hardly enough time? Are the Minister of Finance and the National Treasury also in recess?

Has Parliament ever amended a bill in eight days? When do the MPs return?

April 22. And when does the increased VAT come into effect?

8 days later. So, how many days does the National Assembly need to make the changes possible? Just one.

You keep saying you won’t trust the ANC in 100 years. Why do you trust them now, your recommendation is not binding? If the ANC voted for something they don’t understand, that’s their problem. ActionSA is not voting fodder.

You don’t think they fooled you? Who would cheat us?

Mdumiseni Ntuli, the ANC’s chief whip, even boasted in the Sunday Times that they made a deal with you because they were not prepared to postpone the committee meeting and budget approval, because that would have been a victory for the DA. Is that what it was about, embarrassing the DA? It has nothing to do with the DA, but everything to do with the DA wanting to stop South Africans from having a budget, using the budget to negotiate with. They wanted to send the finance minister back to the drawing board, and while the country has no budget, take the next flight to tell the world that bad things are happening in South Africa.

So this is about the DA? No, it’s about ensuring that there is a budget in which South Africans can function.

Why didn’t you just support the other parties’ proposed amendments from the beginning? Why can’t they support mine? Do they have a God-given right that I have to support them?

And if the ANC and Treasury ignore your recommendations? Then that’s their problem. But we are working together now to prevent that from happening.

And it’s going to happen before May 1, regardless of Treasury’s reservations? Do you think the officials are asleep? If it were possible to change VAT from 2% to 0.5% in two weeks, then it could be done. When parliament resumes, the minister has full power to ask the speaker to arrange a special sitting of parliament.

Who should the voters blame if they pay more VAT on 1 May? The party that said it from the beginning, or the party that promised to stop it? If they blame us, that is right. Every voter makes their choice. I cannot think for the voters. But let me tell you this: ActionSA’s recommendation is being worked on right now, as we speak. You in the media wrote that the world will end if Cilliers Brink is removed as mayor of Tshwane. And look now? This is what it means to mislead people.

Very interesting set of graphs. That last one paints a picture I wouldn't have expected.

Yes middle class and up I can see the DA having the edge because things like service delivery matter more than rhetoric.
