You jest. But if the CIC and Ouma Helen were smart way back when they would have emerged bigger winners. Maar nee the DA went GNU GNU GNU. Now back to the drawing board for everyone.

Short term gain, with severe long term pain. This is the standard ANC operating procedure, as long as the current cadres can extract maximum, it shall be so.

The smaller parties will be annihilated at the ballots come next election cycle, and form the basis for more stable coalitions with less partners. Long term, this is a good thing. Parties like AlJammahamamama-haman-hamana, BOSA, Rise, ASA will simply be wiped from the map. It will start at the source of funding, which translates to the actual votes.

And with such a narrow margin, the ANC have saddled up a horse that they will not enjoy to ride. So many concessions to keep everybody aligned, it's going to be ANC-death-by-a-thousand-cuts. But it will give the current ANC cadres some breathing room to grow those swiss bank accounts.

On average in ANC coalitions, smaller parties are simply happy to be there. If DA and VF+ leaves, watch how ANC runs the show alone with everyone else just nodding along.

I'm not yet convinced of that. Sure, if there was a slightly bigger margin to keep them in check, I would agree. But it's just so razor thin...

A third option would be for the smaller parties to form some kind of faction within the GNU against the ANC... wouldn't that be an absolute hoot to witness :ROFL:

That's the problem, the DA simply has no appreciation for that because they are in denial about apartheid and totally don't see the point of having all the transformation laws hence they were so determined on leveraging the VAT thing to push their anti transformation agenda.
