There was a time when I used to go around here correcting people on fake news, that was way back when I still thought I was dealing with normal people.

LOL! In all seriousness it's really sad man. Melville/Westdene/Greymont/Northcliff were the poster children of Joburg living and the vibe of art and old city feel. Now it stinks everywhere and is fraught with hazards. The level of DGAF went up dramatically after COVID. I see it in all the parks as well. Like COVID was the most convenient excuse to just do less and have the money vanish.

I know, when I did my stint up in the big smoke Melville was an awesome place to be.

But as you say, COVID seems to have been the excuse to do less and steal more. Its the case even in Durban. One of the city departments still has the gall to have a "We are short staffed due to COVID please be patient with us" on one of their call centres IVR systems.
