Then what are you still doing here? 😭

Love how all this is also exposing that some never considered themselves Africans, they are only Africans when profits are being made from cheap African labour and minerals.

We don't have time for propaganda from Orange man and his country, we are moving forward with real transformation led by our democratically elected president Cyril Matamela Ramaphosa. 🙂

Wow, you really are a whack job.

"Real transformation", into what? A failed state. EVERY sector from
ESKOM
education
health
water
security (Both the SANDF and SAPS)
justice system
transport
etc.

has been led into failure. And it continues on that path.

Look at the decline of SA - there is NO transformation, only into wrack and ruin at the hands of the ANC.

The question is, does the DA have any history of turning anything around? Because they did not turn Cape Town around or the Western Cape for that matter, they had a very good opportunity to showcase their turnaround in Tshwane for 8 years, what happened there? The excuse always being thrown around here is that they did not have a majority, so where are they going to get a majority in Joburg?

So no, the Zille dream that's being sold is a nightmare for black people in the poor areas of the city or any area tgat isn't home for the DA electorate. The DA thrives in ideal conditions, especially those where there are enough well to do people they can tax to submission.

There's been small towns where the DA took over from the ANC that have been turned around.

You are talking twaddle. You say the DA only thrives in ideal conditions, well in that case the ANC thrives in ZERO conditions. They always bring everything they govern to ruin no matter what.

Look when they had control of Cape Town. They had gotten their claws into it and had started to centralize everything like socialists do. Cape Town was on the way down thanks to that mindset.

Luckily the DA got Cape Town back and we were put back on the right path.

Undoing the ANC's disasters is going to take time but give the DA a majority and they will succeed.

Look at the DA's ministers in the GNU. They are out performing and making the ANC look bad.

One economist said that agriculture held up the SA economy - that's Steenhuizen.
Look at what Schreiber is doing, slowly but surely bringing things back to normal.

Sorry, but the ANC were a good struggle party, but they are a terrible governing party. That's just the way it is.

Every year, the top-rated municipalities are from those controlled by the DA - and not just CT. Also CT was not handed on a silver platter to the DA - it was hopelessly "run" by the ANC's Mfeketo in the early 2000s. The DA can of course turn it around. Duh. It's just your anti-DA bias clouding your view.

Can she win though? And if she wins, can she do it by a big enough margin to implement DA policies? SA never gets the best case scenario. Helen Zille being mayor of JHB with 40%+ control of council would be a best case scenario which is why it seems unlikely…

I’m not really convinced Jhbers even want good governance. It seems easier just to pack up and leave than vote in good governance.

If she does win it and turn it around get ready for the Champ play book:

1. ANC had already started turning it around and DA just swooped in to take the recognition;
2. The DA only turned around larny places like Sandton, JHB CBD and the suburbs. Why are there still shacks?
3. The DA fired all of the excellently qualified black cadres and brought in incompetent whites because they are racist

She is not going to win anything.
Does teh country actually have a budget yet ?
Even if DA wins outright majority it is going to take years to trun anything arround.
It takes money to do that and there is just not any left anymore

The ANC was given a winning formulae and all they did was loot it ....

She is not going to win anything.

Careful Champy, don't make too many assumptions, a poll was done during the whole 2% VAT debacle and the DA got more votes than the ANC in an election.

You might think that all your fellow black South Africans have the same unwavering devotion at all costs to the ANC, but it seems some are really getting gatvol of the ANC.

As Moeletsi Mbeki said in an interview about a week ago, I paraphrase - most revolutionary parties throughout history have never made good governing parties.

It always takes the voters a while to figure it out though, and during that time the revolutionary parties sometimes go rogue, like Zimbabwe, or just lead the country to ruin.

Will the ANC be the exception.... um that would be a big no, given their current 30 year run in charge of South Africa.

About assumptions:

The DA and MK Party has shown steady growth.
Post the national elections, the EFF has continued its downward trend.
The ANC’s poor performances lend credibility to the assertion that it’s national support is now around 32%.

Since the ANC lost its majority in last year’s general election, President Cyril Ramaphosa’s party has lost support in more than 60% of the by-elections it has contested since then.
Since the general election on 29 May 2024, in which its support plummeted by 17.3 percentage points to 40.2%, the ANC has lost support in 61% of the 127 by-elections it has contested.
This means that Ramaphosa’s party performed worse in 77 of these by-elections and only performed better in 44. In six of the by-elections, the party maintained the same level of support as in previous elections.

This trend continued last week when the ANC ceded Ward 4 of the Karoo Hoogland Municipality in the Northern Cape (Sutherland and surrounding areas) to Gayton McKenzie’s Patriotic Alliance.

Sandra Muller, a former ANC councillor who joined the PA, won her ward by 35 votes.

The ANC also suffered a significant loss of support in Ward 6 of the Nama Khoi Municipality in the Northern Cape (Okiep).
Though ANC candidate Leonard de Jongh secured the majority of votes in the by-election, the ANC’s support has fallen by 27 percentage points since the 2021 municipal election, leaving it at just 39%.

The ANC’s poor performance in by-elections lends credibility to polls by the Institute of Race Relations (IRR) in April and the Social Research Foundation (SRF) in February, which pegged the party’s support at 29.7% and 32%, respectively.

John Steenhuisen’s DA is one of the few parties that has gained more support than it has lost in the 73 by-elections the party has contested.
The DA has performed better in 47 by-elections (64%) and worse in 24 (33%) compared to previous results.
The DA is particularly gaining significant support in wards within metropolitan municipalities, a good sign for Steenhuisen’s party as it aims to surpass the ANC in Johannesburg, Tshwane, and Nelson Mandela Bay during next year’s municipal elections.

Former President Jacob Zuma’s MK party, established in December 2023, also seems to show consistent growth.
Since last year’s election, this party has contested 64 by-elections, winning eight of them.
These include wards in metropolitan municipalities and even in the Western Cape, where MK managed to wrest Ward 1 in Middelpos, Saldanha Bay Municipality, from the ANC.
Most of MK’s participation has still been concentrated in KwaZulu-Natal, though the party has also contested wards in Gauteng and Mpumalanga.

Julius Malema’s EFF continues its struggles at the ballot box, with the party performing worse in 38 out of 76 by-elections (50%) it has contested since last year’s general election. The party has only improved its performance in 30 by-elections (39%).

In last year’s general election, the EFF’s support declined from 10.8% in 2019 to 9.5%.
Velenkosini Hlabisa’s IFP participated in only 32 by-elections during this period but managed to perform better in 21 of them (66%) compared to previous elections. The party performed worse in just nine by-elections (28%).
PA leader Gayton McKenzie.
DSAC
McKenzie’s PA continues its by-election success to build on the party’s growth since last year’s general election. The PA performed better in 21 of the 26 by-elections it contested (81%), only faring worse in four wards (15%).

It is particularly in coloured communities in the Western Cape, Northern Cape, and Johannesburg where the PA outshines its opponents. In last year’s general election, the PA’s support grew by 4 000%, making it the sixth-largest party in South Africa.
The pain continues for ANC.
