It's an interesting question... But one that will cause much DABAD! Reeing in short order.
Ah yes, here we go...Former DA MP Liam Jacobs says his erstwhile party’s “obsession” with Patriotic Alliance leader Gayton McKenzie is “about clinging to power in the Western Cape, not about fixing South Africa’s problems”.
- Former DA MP Liam Jacobs is now a member of the Patriotic Alliance.
- According to Jacobs, he has been promised nothing other than to be a part of the “fastest growing party”.
- PA leader Gayton McKenzie says the party would support Jacobs in whatever he would need.
“I could not be part of that for another day,” Jacobs said after ditching his blue DA-shirt for the green of the PA.
Ah yes, convenient Damascus moment... Because it definitely isn't suspicious that you'd completely switch parties and lose your MP seat on the weekend after confronting your new party leader in a portfolio committee...Jacobs has insisted that he was not promised anything to move over to the PA.
“I have come home to the PA because what Gayton said hit me hard this week after our portfolio committee meeting. I knew I was being used. A big thank you to president McKenzie and all the patriots who have accepted me with open arms and love,” he said.
“Wherever the president wants me to be, whatever work he has for me, I am ready. I have been promised nothing, except the chance to be part of the fastest growing party in South Africa, and to make a contribution to fighting for the people, instead of fighting the people who have been fighting for young people like me.”
Baloyi 2 loading...According to Jacobs, he is finally home.
“I looked into what the PA is, what it stands for, and the family that it is. I feel genuinely loved and welcomed here, despite what I’ve said and done in the past. When the President announced me, I felt a calm and happiness unlike anything I’ve ever known. I could not stop smiling. I am finally home.
“We have to keep holding those in power to account, but this obsession with a leader like Gayton McKenzie is about clinging to power in the Western Cape; not about fixing South Africa’s problems,” he said.

The 24-year-old Jacobs is from the Northern Cape. He had also been the leader of the DA Students Organisation (DASO) since October 2022.
Previously, he was also part of the ANC, before moving to the DA.
According to his X profile, he is a also professional wrestler.
In a statement, McKenzie said he had always maintained that Jacobs had a bright future in politics.
Jacobs is an influencer-style politician who captures his oversight and parliamentary work on social media with a growing following.
He has been critical of McKenzie, the running of sport bodies and federations, and the poor management of the country’s sports facilities.
“I am proud of him, despite what he was being used for. I knew that one day his eyes would open, I just didn’t think it would be this soon, or this sudden. Our hearts are full of joy. We will always stand with Liam, no matter what anyone might insult him with now. I look forward to the journey of growing the next generation of leaders, like him, in the PA, because this party is not for me or any of us who started the PA,” McKenzie said.
“We have always said that the PA belongs to our children, and Liam will be part of that next generation that carries the PA beyond us once we have packed away our suits. The PA must – and will – endure even when I am being lowered into the ground in a coffin draped in PA colours.”
His parliament TikTok theatrics probably got on Gogo's nerves, got told to grow up and he threw a tantrum and left.So his studio got touched because someone told him he was a child? Because, despite having recently become a junior politician (he's a year older than me) and getting to become an MP, he's the emperor of the universe? Eish. Egos...
It could be that someone told him to change tack a tiny bit or restrategize, and he threw a hissy fit.His parliament TikTok theatrics probably got on Gogo's nerves, got told to grow up and he threw a tantrum and left.
Gonna end well...A councillor and another man from Dimbaza in the Eastern Cape have been arrested by the Hawks’ East London Kidnapping Investigations Task Force after a businessman from the town was kidnapped on Tuesday.
According to reports, the 42-year-old businessman was allegedly forcibly forced out of his hardware store by an unknown suspected kidnapper, said Hawks spokesperson Lt. Col. Avele Fumba.
He said the businessman was forced into his own vehicle after which the suspected kidnapper sped away with him from the scene.
Following the incident, the Hawks’ Kidnapping Task Force, in collaboration with the East London Police’s Rapid Response Unit and Canine Unit, acted swiftly on important information provided by vigilant members of the community.
Fumba said the team followed a vehicle of interest and in a well-coordinated tactical operation intercepted the vehicle. Cwenga Ludidi (34) was arrested at the scene and charged with kidnapping.
Further investigations by the Hawks revealed the involvement of Kholeka Mpupha (37), a local EFF councillor for the Buffalo City Metro Municipality.
Mpupha is believed to have played a critical role in helping the alleged kidnapper escape. She was subsequently arrested and charged by the Hawks.
Both Mpupha and Ludidi appeared in the Dimbaza Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
Mpupha was granted bail of R2 000, while Ludidi remains in custody and will appear in court again for a formal bail application next Thursday.
When there’s smoke, there’s fire. The truth will out soon enoughYup, remember Xiluva, his big party? Got 0.02% in GP and nationally...
Now the poor guy is in MK, last I checked...
I wonder when the "Black leader" pieces will start up again...
P.S. I still wonder tho... What changed? It makes no sense that on Wednesday, you have a firefight with the leader of a party, then join that same party over the weekend?
Doesn’t sound like anyone from the DA pushed him. I could be wrong tho. These young guns are always looking for a get-rich-quick schemeHis parliament TikTok theatrics probably got on Gogo's nerves, got told to grow up and he threw a tantrum and left.
Most important thing in politics is having a firm ideology and always sticking to it. If you have a tweet on your profile from a few days ago dissing McKenzie, as well as spent your entire political career calling out their shenanigans, and then suddenly he’s your President and you will go wherever he points - people don’t take you seriously anymore.
A quota boy just like Siya Kholisi. Well done Proteas.![]()
This is why. Because South Africa is still full of racist whites even post apartheid. When was Siya ever a 'quota'? What year is it now 2001?. Is there enough tomato sauce in the world for the chips on your shoulder? Can't you just wish the Proteas well without some racist undertone?
You didn't even spell Kolisi right.
If quotas never existed, would you have called him a “quota” then? Remember, you were the one to call him that, no one white did. This is why. Because South Africa is still full of racist whites even post apartheid.
We use Vicki Momberg as an example time and time again because we know she represents the true feelings of many.
