He can hurt SA in ways that will seriously disrupt the economy. He has already given a taste. Suddenly, around 300,000 more are unemployed, and millions have no ARVs. And that's just a start. He hasn't even touched the AGOA and sanctions button yet.

Certain people locally don't understand big numbers. Zuma also had that problem, so it is a thing. US trade results in a positive trade balance, China negative.

But then again this "poor South Africa is a blameless victim" is also dishonest. We had brain surgeons think it would be funny and a good idea changing Sandton Drive's name to embarrass the USA, wanted to catch shine at the ICJ, sending Hamas supporting politicians to the US ...

Instead of backing off and doing diplomatic things, the ANC does what it does well, doubles down and escalates in stupidity.

Do what to register? Let's not argue like South Africa is morally superior here. It doesn't benefit you or me, or any other South African to "take Trump head on".

South Africa is better off with the US as a partner than without.

Obviously they're not going to challenge him to a duel. They gave up on the diplomatic channel and likely would be battering each other in public.

Had he been putting South Africa under pressure to sort out violent crime and corruption, something actually afflicting South Africans at the moment, the world would have stood behind him. For once, I would have sang the same tune as him.

No-one really cares - that's the reality. People hardly watched the "family meetings" during covid where the meetings did actually apply to almost all the population. Why would people tune in now to a meeting with little relevance to everyday lives?
