SA Politics Thread Part 12

The **** I took this morning is more interesting than Rob Hershov. The amount of times my youtube timeline has been defiled by seeing his face with “South Africas collapse” on some right wingers podcast. When did he become some sort of authority on SA? How does he keep getting invited? So many questions.

I have to be a bit (very) slow about ANC SA politics but I see from Bloomberg that this Mchunu fellow being Cyril's big chm in KZN and a possible el presidente candidate. Makes Mkhwanazi's accusations all the more interesting. In case paywalled and even Melania's weighing in.

"Local media outlets had suggested Mchunu could succeed his close ally Ramaphosa as leader of the African National Congress in 2027 and potentially as president in 2029." and "Those in line to take charge of the party once Ramaphosa leaves include Deputy President Paul Mashatile, and ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula, who have been embroiled in scandals of their own. They both deny wrongdoing and haven’t been prosecuted.

“Neither of those two candidates could restore the fortunes of the liberation party and could contribute to its further electoral decline,” Silke said. “The ANC is in a real bind from a leadership perspective
.”" as well as "“Keeping Mchunu is critical for the ANC, as their biggest single voting block is in his home province of KwaZulu-Natal,” said Melanie Verwoerd, an independent political analyst and former lawmaker."
Neither can Mchunu. Can't shake the feeling that this is once again all about ANC factions...

It's fair for Du Toit to question the amount of time it took to suspend Chauke, but he can't complain about that and then complain that Cyril suspended the IGI too quickly.

It becomes a matter of moaning when he doesn't act and moaning even more when he does, unless he says there is something unfair about the suspension of the IGI.

Have you heard of this concept called consistency?

Yes, I have also heard of a concept called "every case should be treated on its own merits", there is no one size fits all in legal matters.
So squirrel is now a lawyer and judge?

The man of many wasted talents will randomly jogging passed that house.

It's just the hypocrisy.

The man has sat on his hands for as long as he could during his presidency regarding everything (incl Chauke's thing), now all of a sudden acts fast on this of all things?

Why?

The DA spends 75% of it's budget in poor areas in Cape Town.
Yes, the DA will spend 75% of the budget but mysteriously Soweto will end up looking like Khayelitsha.

Ask the people of Tshwane what happened after the DA spent 75% of the budget on the poor, they died of Cholera.

If you are a poor person and know what is good for you, never allow the DA to spend 75% of the budget on you, terrible things happen after they do.
