SA Post Office's new ecommerce platform

The SA Post Office's ecommerce platform will allow local entrepreneurs to sell their products on the global market, the company announced at an event in Pretoria.

This platform will have a "soft launch" on 9 March 2020.

Really. This article on the same day as the article about the billion rand loss?

"The SA Post Office can assist entrepreneurs in financing the product, as well as helping the entrepreneur to deliver the product on time."

She made a funny...

Enjoyed this bit....

The importing of up to 80,000 items per day locally and abroad is further proof that the SA Post Office is capable of large delivery volumes, said Makhubele. The logistics side of the business is also reported to be in good condition.

"Chairperson Colleen Makhubele said the Post Office had recently been suffering losses of approximately 1 billion per year, and has received R8 billion from the government since 2016 – which was intended to drive new initiatives such as its ecommerce platform. "

I wonder how much of that R8bn went into the Wordpress site they are going to launch?

"Why the Post Office is capable"
This is where they lost me. When did this happen?

You can only sell that many African beads online.......

Received a parcel today from SAPO speed services. Was sent on 26 Feb from namibia. Not too bad actually. It was a SAPO mini VW bus. Never seen those.

So the soft launch means they'll allocate an additional person to ignore the ringing phones?

I received a mail today in the postbox to collect drivers license, the mail was posted 3 months ago (same city, probably 10-15km away). 3 months is ridiculous! Why dont the post office fix their delivery system first before trying other things....

I don't know brah, DHL can get my products anywhere in the world in 3 days. granted they are expensive, but why would i use the commie post office?

Cos they have a competitive advantage... Don't you listen to the chairperson.... Jees.

It will serve as the primary UPU node for the SADC region within a core African delivery network that includes three other countries in key locations – Egypt, Ghana, and Kenya.

This will also connect South Africa’s ecommerce platform to UPU’s global partners, allowing South African entrepreneurs to reach customers around the world.
That's such a great idea, SAPO's award winning moto throughout Africa will soon be "kuiba kila kitu".

Received a RoyalMail parcel from the UK, took 4 days to arrive in SA from UK, sat in SAPO for 2.5 weeks
