SA smart plugs that can be flashed with Tasmota

I dont mind flashing to Tasmota but i prefer one that is supported without flashing.
You can use "Tuya Integration Home Assistant "
https://developer.tuya.com/en/docs/iot/Home-assistant-tuya-intergration?id=Kb0eqjig0utdd
This is a HA plugin, but your device will still be linked/dependent on Tuya cloud.

If you want independence from Tuya cloud you need to replace with Tasmota.
New firmware on most Tuya devices is locked and can't be upgraded OTA.

AFAIK, newer Sonoff and Shelly support mqtt (and thus HA) out the box without flashing.

Has Tuya not launched local control as well albeit for newer devices?

Edit seems still a project in progress

Do they still have the pins broken out for hard flashing tho?

Does anybody know if tasmota can be programmed to have a power on delay timer?

Would like a delay timer on my mining rigs as they tend to trip the power if they all come on at once

Also if it is possible then can anybody please flash it with that function to a bneta or 2 for me? Im too stupid but i am however willing to pay someone to do it for me

Pretty sure you can do timers with the built-in Tasmota rules system.

Looks exactly like the vizia. Rebranded perhaps
Yeah, I see that now, and almost half the price. All I want it to do is schedule an on and off time for a light in my "Bar".

The first generation of the smart sockets with this form factor all seemed to be internally identical regardless of whether they were branded UltraLink, Vizia, INS, SmartHome or remained unbranded by the original manufacturer. The current listing for the Vizia socket on Takealot still has pictures of the original first generation product, but I'm not sure whether they're shipping gen 1s or gen 2s.

The socket in the link that @W@P posted seems from the photos to be a second generation model - the form factor is very similar but the on/off button has moved from the front face of the socket (where it was potentially obscured by the cable of whatever you plugged in) to the side of the case closest to the earth pin. I've flashed over 30 of the first gen sockets and all of them (including some UltraLink sockets bought this month) had Tasmotisable ESP-based WiFi modules. I haven't yet bought any of the second gen products to see if they still use ESP-based modules or if they're using newer Tuya modules based on RealTek chips. Has anyone here opened a second gen to see if they're flashable?

Of course, if @W@P just wants a simple on/off schedule then that's easy to set up in the Tuya Smart app, and flashing isn't an issue. :)

Anyone have any experience with these? Are they any good?

It’s hard to see but if they are the ones with the button on top it’s all I’ve been using and they are very lekker.

Much better than the Ultralink ones I had before of which all of them have died except one.

Actually been looking for more at a decent price as I originally paid R199 for each from GeeWiz.

These also look like a nicer option.

Smart WiFi and Bluetooth Plug - 3 Pin SA Round 16A 3360W available to buy online at @TAKEALOT We offer fast, reliable delivery to your door.

Not sure if they are Tuya or not though.

Yup app is definitely a Tuya clone.

Have one. Runs Tuya. Have not confirmed whether is has an ESP chip or the newer tuya chip.

Have you opened or tried flashing any of the button-on-top generation of these plugs? All my power measurement kit is currently Tasmotised and I'd like to keep it that way. I have used the official Tuya integration for Home Assistant, but found it way too flaky and occasionally unresponsive for my needs.

I also have one of those round Connex plugs and have opened it. The WiFi module isn't ESP-based, so it's not a candidate for anyone wanting cloudless home automation.

For anyone interested, I bought one of these Vizia 16A plugs on Takalot: VIZIA Smart WiFi Power Plug

EDIT: below relates to the round Vizia 16A plugs : VIZIA Smart WiFi Round Plug. The above seems to be the wrong link. These rectangular Vizia plugs can be flashed as is with FTDI adaptor.

This is a Tuya device, and it ships with a WR2 module.

The ESP-02S module is a drop-in replacement for the WR2. Found these on AliExpress (I'm impressed with SAPO! Only 2 months to the day! Based on past experience, my expectations were low): TYWE2S (ESP-02S) serial WiFi module

I flashed Tasmota on the ESP module, and after some careful soldering - figured out that these settings seem to work:
{"NAME":"Vizia 16A","GPIO":[0,320,0,32,224,2656,0,0,0,2720,2624,0,0,0],"FLAG":0,"BASE":1}

I quite like these plugs compared to clunky Sonoff Pow extention cords.

I gave up with the first generation ones so didn’t even bother with the newer ones.

If memory serves correctly, that's what I encountered in the Connex device too.

That's great to know! The last time I searched for them a year or so ago I could only find one or two listings which at that stage would only ship to SA using $80+ shipping methods. The link you just posted seems to be no longer available, but a quick search for TYWE2S yields a bunch of other viable listings so I may have to buy a bunch and gamble with SAPO again!
