Cape Town has been voted one of the top ten cities tourists like to visit in the recent annual poll of Travel & Leisure magazine readers. Cape Town was ranked 6th overall in the 11th annual poll of The World’s Best Awards, a competition that is highly esteemed by the travel world.

world's best

So tourists still want to come - puts a dent in many people's attempts to paint the country in a bad light

And amongst the worst, on the radio (RSG or SAFM) yesterday they reported we have the worst performing aducation system of the SADC countries...

as proven by your spelling skills, but we are talking tourism here

Cape Town is a great tourist city. They come with stronger currencies, stay in the best hotels, go to the best places and then catch a taxi back to the airport and home. And given the Cape's natural beauty I am not at all surprised tourists enjoy going there.

Try posting the facts - instead of the feel good version:

Cape Town was voted the best tourism city in Africa and the Middle East in an annual poll of readers of Travel and Leisure magazine.

"Over the past two years, Cape Town has jumped 17 positions on the International Congress and Convention Association's global rankings.

Uum I wonder why?

Cape Town moves up ranks of best cities July 25 2006

Any positives are undone by the excessive crime rate.

Say what! And this is old news

According to the official crime statistics, the Western Cape has emerged as the country’s most crime-ridden province, and the Northern Cape as the most violent. This is confusing for criminologists who link crime to poverty, because these are two of the best developed provinces in the country, with the highest employment levels. Explaining crime in these provinces requires further research on the people and conditions in the area.

must be the bus loads of anc supporters that are brought into the province to help ANC get it's death like grip back into power.

as for the fools who think south africa is a 'great' tourist destination, they're just that - fools - much like our racist, corrupt, idiotic and lazy goverment.

welcome to africa.

Gee whiz - don't you just love it? I stay quiet for a day? (But now I'm eating crow?) If I had to post a similar message every time the trolls didn't respond - oh, where would we be?

Just no time to refute at the mo'.

Me hearties be clear sailing. Aar.

Trust me i know! Im a grade 10 learner in durban doing the new FET phase, and trust me not only do the pupils not know what they are doing, but the teachers don't either!
Ask the teacher a question! They reply "I don't know, I'm also new @ this" Huh hellooooooo government should know it's not working!! It'll take them about a year to realise it though!!

/raise flag!/okay - seeing as it's noobs night out in the archives -

"Over the past two years, Cape Town has jumped 17 positions on the International Congress and Convention Association's global rankings. " Now I wonder why this would be? Could it be because we have so many conferences? Why would that be? Uum, could it be because we have a government who loves conferences?! Even pays for other countries delegations (but won't allow the TAC to go to the UN)... Uum, expense? No problem!! (This on 5,5 million tax payers...)

Now why post the simple listing - to an old story - which had already been discussed? Could it be the actions of a Troll? The feelgood version?! (This from people who's usual opinion is CT sucks.)

(and I rest my case!) :D
