SA to help Palestinian reconciliation

I dont think Israel should give SA 5 seconds of their time, our government has proven time and time again they dont understand the situation in the ME.
They are always quick to condemn Israel before finding out facts... We're quick to side with Iran, Zim, etc.. and what exactly does the current shoot the boer government know about reconcilliation?

edit: just read the article, and oh ofcourse, it has nothing to do with Israel but reconcilling the PA with the terrorists.. Makes sense now

...and after they've turned the Palestinians into a single "army", they should come home and fix some of our own problems. :)

Edit: Maybe I didn't read the article properly, but Israel isn't mentioned anywhere. It is between Fatah and Hamas.

You didn't even read the article,
"I received an invitation from the South African embassy to come here to see the Palestinian factions and try to reach reconciliation with them," Boraine told reporters in the West Bank political capital Ramallah.

Zim is in the ME? Why are you so against peace in the region?

I'm not against peace at all, would love it, but I dont think SA has any place at the negotiating table.. I listed Zim as an example as one of the tyrants we support

I edited my post before you replied
Well why did you keep the part about Israel not giving SA 5s? South Africa doesn't feel it's in a position to influence Israel so they are in turn vocal in their "diplomacy". Israel have the mighty US in their corner while Palestine have no one (countries talk but they never give any material assistance to Palestine). South Africa on the other hand can influence things in Zim, so there's no need for a mega-phone.

I am just explaining the logic, I don't particularly agree with this country's diplomatic approach to things in the ME & Burma for example.

Well further sanctions there only means more illegal, poor, desperate Zimbaweans here. It's a bit of a catch 22. If you look at what the TRC did in the past I think it's proven to be beneficial.

You do know that the zim sanctions is against Mugabe and his cronies and not against the zim economy, right?

Are you falling for mugabe propaganda?

How about publically denouncing Robert Mugabe? Refusing him access to our hospitals and country?
Instead he gets treated at our best hospitals, gets invited to government functions

There are alot of things South Africa can do, but we dont, because the truth is we dont care

its doubtful that anything meaningful will come of this, there are too many insidious forces at work behind the scenes, its good that our government is progressive enough to resist the powerful international cabal who props up the Zionist entity, where Israel is wrong it must be condemned, apartheid has no place in the world.

Its a shame apartheid that was experienced in SA gets watered down so frequently these days

General note to Israel
In the event of Hamas and Fatah reconciling and presenting a united front to Israel, I am 100% certain that the ‘official’ SA stance will be anti-Israel.

Let it be known to Israel that support for the moronic uttering’s of the SA government is by no means universal.

The cynic in me says there will be peace between Israel and the Palestinians before the Palestinians reconcile between themselves. Anyway good luck to all involved - if it works cant be a bad thing altogether.

Ramallah - South Africa has launched a new initiative aimed at encouraging Palestinian reconciliation by sharing its experience in overcoming apartheid, officials said on Wednesday.

What experience does the ANC have wrt reconciliation ?

Everything is still blamed on Apartheid.
The youth leg of the ruling partly is promoting racial hatred.
Certain races are preferred above others.

Just to name a few and the ANC wants to try and help another nation with reconciliation :wtf:

I realise it won't mean anything to you, but the ANC was chief amongst those who negotiated our peaceful transition & they agreed to a lot of compromises even though they had a strong hand at the table.

IIRC the 1993 intern constitution came into effect before the 1994 elections and the ANC didn't have a choice but to agree to those compromises. the intern constitution almost failed because those involved could not agree on the compromises and then the 1994 elections would also never have happened.

The 1996 first draft also failed to comply with some of the constitutional principles set out in intern constitution and thus could not be certified and it had to be amended.

I am talking about the negotiations that officially ended apartheid, the ANC was the biggest winner from those because they had a strong position followed by the NATS.
