For all of you from South Africa, looking to join a World Of Warcraft Server look no further, http://www.ContiNuityGaming.co.za is the place to be.

About the Server:
ContiNuity is a friendly gaming community that has been running a development realm for 4 years. We have very few in game issues due to this. Recently we have decided to open to the public and build up a great community.
One thing ContiNuity strives in is its ability to supply all gamers with high end quality gaming. ContiNuity also strives to be an authentic server. This meaning that the (.additem/.level/.modify money/.die) commands have been removed entirely.
We don’t have GM’s (Game Masters) as in most private communities this causes way too many politics and too many issues. We do however have in game moderators which handle the community by making sure all our users are satisfied.
The role of an in game moderator is as follows:
To ensure fairness to all players.
To ensure no players hack or exploit in any way.
To ensure prompt assistance to all players regarding any in game problems.
Most of all to ensure all players enjoy the game.

"Community" servers are a bit of an illness to the legitimate players,a bad copy of what is(was) an awesome game, and the subs aren't ridiculous to begin with

I am amazed by the negativity, I used to be very involved in the development of this server in particular and know for a fact that it is the developers pay for the hosting and offer this project as a free testing platform to the public, the developers use this as a platform to learn programing yet you will always find the ungrateful and probably ignorant who spoil it for the rest.

If you're expecting hugs and kisses when advertising private servers here, you're in the wrong place. Nobody here likes private servers, or people that advertise them. I don't really care what the developers are giving up. It still remains a poor experience compared to official servers. And there are far easier and better ways to learn development than this.

Don't expect a better reception at MyGaming either.

You insult real developers by calling yourselves developers. A real development team would come up with their own ideas instead of leaching of other developers.

My home server > your wow server.

That said, die.

That's an Mweb server.... as is the IP, I checked.... you sure they don't mind you hosting this?

I used to hate pirate servers then I took an arrow to the knee and quit WoW altogether ...

The private wow server 'hate' is little more than another form of elitism .. plenty of groupthink too.

They don't affect legitimate players any more than people sharing mp3's affect those purchasing retail CD's.

You can't just assume to speak for an entire community, I know multiple MyBB'ers who have played on emu servers.
I have seen plenty of MyBB posters openly admitting that they pirate software/movies/music and even justifying it, and yes I am referring to long time active members. And yet you presume to post on behalf of this same community against an activity that is at worst no different. :wtf:

To put things in perspective, I play on official, I have 2 active accounts. I have played on private servers in the past. My second account on official has nothing more than a couple of level 1's for banker alts - not trying to flaunt or say I have too much money but simply pointing out that the subscription in no way affects why I have played on private servers.

There are basically 3 reasons why people will play on emu servers:

1. They cannot or don't want to pay the sub. Perhaps they can't afford it or they don't think it's worth it or they are just cheap.
2. They prefer the game as it was at some stage in it's past. This is primarily why you find vanilla servers or TBC servers. Some people even play on WotLK servers for this reason.
3. The South African speciality .. they don't like lag .. Yes it's not terribad these days, I average 190-200ms. While 200ms is perfectly fine for PvE and even casual PvP. It is definitely a disadvantage in competitive PvP. If you think it isn't then I suggest you have not played any competitive PvP.

If Blizzard took notice of the South African WoW community by providing a locally hosted realm they would win a significant portion of the players in category 3. I would pay double my sub for a SA hosted realm.

Fair enough. I can't speak for everybody here. But if you check the last couple of private server threads, you'll see that it's mostly a negative response they get for their ads.

if an ISP knowingly hosts illegal content they can face fines, so im guessing they wont like it once they "know" that other people "know" that they "know" :D
