SAA at breaking point

Just no free flights for government officials. SAA is actually not bad. Was one of the best upto when Zuma took charge.

I like that they cancelled an unprofitable route.

I would fly.

1. London
2. New York
3. Perth
4. Bangkok
5. Indonesia
6. Singapore
7. Munich
8. Paris
9. Mauritius

Fly that and they will coin it big time. Reduce the local hop skip and jump routes.
So fly
1. Cape Town - George to Durban
2. Cape Town to Johannesburg
3. Johannesburg to Durban.
4. Jhb to Bloem

Later on add....
1. Rome
2. Barcelona
3. Miami
4. Sao Paulo
5. Hmm Malaysia but not sure which side.

Ah Jakarta for Indonesia

But Jhb to Denpassar to Perth wont be a bad idea and return too. Great to stop for fuel.

With what aircraft? They have a total of TWO long-haul aircraft, one of them being a gas guzzler, and probably won't get anyone dumb enough to lease them more aircraft.

Still flying everyday, I have a friend who is a pilot, she has been with them almost 20 years now
That does not mean they are doing well though. If she was a white male then she would have gotten the boot long ago.

Unfortunately there are still stupid people at SAA and the Tatako bail-out is not going to fix that.

Like the fact they pulled the Blantyre/Lilongwe route before it even commenced citing it won't be profitable when Malawian/Ethiopian and Airlink are choc-a-block full and people complain all the time they can't find flights.

But SAA will start a route to some ****-hole with 3 passengers a week no problem. Its amazing..

Actually i flew SAA 6 months ago to Cape Town and our pilot was an Afrikaans guy, prob in his late 50s as the Captain and he was great - we hit some rough turbulence and he was calm, joked with us and so forth and the flight was sublime.

I think SAA's problem is further up the line than pilots. Its managed by idiots.

Yea there are a few scabs who were "lucky" enough to not get the axe, or even some who returned/are returning. Not sure why you would want to fly for SAA when you can get into FlySafair or Airlink. The latter 2 aren't without their own problems, but it's nothing compared to SAA. I guess SAA might have less busy rosters.

I was not saying anything about the pilots being the problem by the way. I'm sure everyone knows the problem is much bigger than that.

Out of curiousity, why did you choose SAA on a route filled with dozens of alternate flights? Assuming it was from JHB?
