South African Airways (SAA) says one of its flights en route to Johannesburg has been prevented from leaving Zimbabwe this morning.

Flight SA 025 was due to take off from Harare International Airport at 7:20 this morning to OR Tambo International Airport.

It’s not clear at this stage why the flight is being barred from operating out of Harare.

SAA says it's awaiting a decision from Zimbabwean authorities on when the flight can resume its planned trip.

“SAA confirms that one of its aircrafts that was to operate from Zimbabwe to South Africa has been on the ground for some time. We apologise for the inconvenience caused.”

SA grounded a zim plane yesterday. Tit for tat?

Reprisal for the red alert issued for grace mugabe. Isn't it obvious?

Not really worried about SAA (airline can go to hell for all I care), but worried about the people inside the airliner. Is this perhaps related to that bitch Grace? Unless there is a valid reason such as suspected criminal on board then let our people go ..... or we cut your fcking electricity.

This.

Their plane will take off very soon, if it has not already. Bob probably already gave Zuma a few klappe....

It seems like there was valid reason for the Air Zim plane grounding. SAA is in a financial mess but their aircraft are in good order.

Just more dodgyness from the Mugabes. Maybe we should put our military to use and go fetch it by force. Not going to happen of course with the two corrupt Dubai neighbours.

Imagine if this will actually be justice being served via the courts.

LOL - chkldren took the clown out in the DRC. Zim will probably f**k them up competely.

Quite sure there is a reasonable explanation for this, all these tit for tat theories don't make sense.

SURE! Lol.

You think to high of these idiotic African leaders of course your idols.

Missing comic font, don't know Africa, or living under a rock?

I live in Africa, duh!

In the absence of any information, i don't assume the worst about Africa like you lot do, if Grace Mugabe was in jail as we speak maybe your tit for tat could make sense, it currently does not, i can't find the tat to match the tit.

Apparently both planes Air Zim & SAA did not have the necessary paperwork on board the aircraft - Foreign Operators Permit. According to News24 "Reports indicate, although the FOP is mandatory, “most airlines within the region operate without one, in some form of reciprocal understanding” .

It's not clear why the SA Civil Aviation Authority had not been checking / enforcing this before, and then on Friday insisted on the permit and grounded the Zimbabwean plane. The Zimbabweans retaliated as the SAA plane apparently also did not have the permit.
