Strike costs SAA R50 million per day

When the pay strike at South African Airways is eventually settled, the quantum of the increases awarded to workers will only partly determine who wins and who loses.

The South African Cabin Crew Association and the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa, which represent more than 3,000 staff at SAA, have indicated they’d consider 6.5% raises, not far off the state-owned carrier’s last official offer of 5.9%. [Bloomberg]

Conclusion:

When is it shutting down?

EDIT : Or try Business rescue. I know a company that does that, that isn't very successful

when Jesus comes will SAA finally close down.

or until one crazed pilot, decides to crash his plane into airways park or something to that effect...

With possible job losses, I really wouldn't joke about that, pilot suicide is real.

I'm sorry but I get the feeling even the above mentioned acts won't stop SAA.
It's like Days of our lives....

OH look Marlyna is alive.....again

yip, wouldn't want to be a germanwings pilot or a air botswana pilot.
but its equally possible here locally,

one can never know with the way the strike is going, with good money being thrown at the problem
and nobody prepared to put a sick dog down.

some pilot, might just decide to send a message to the owners, that enough is enough,
and sabotage or crash a plane into something.

I mean if its happened before, who is to say it wont happen again.

Who cares, unless of course, we are paying for it?
Plenty of good international airlines servicing ORT and others. I suggest that those great SAA employees (who can actually provide value, i.e. not appointed on the basis of skin colour or AA) seek employment with these.

Should read "Strike costs SA taxpayers R50 million per day" this excludes cadre mark up and the standard AA/BEE processing and handling fees.

50 million Rand a day wow that's the best SAA has ever done. Usually 100 million a day, keep the strike going SAA it's saving the tax payer a fortune.
