Johannesburg - SA Airways (SAA) has placed its acting CEO Vuyisile Kona on precautionary suspension, it said on Monday.

"This is based on certain allegations that have come to the attention of the board, in respect of which the board has a fiduciary duty to investigate," it said in a statement.

"It must be stressed that the board has not come to any conclusion as to the veracity or otherwise of these allegations."

Kona's suspension was with immediate effect.

Kona was appointed in October last year, following the resignation of Siza Mzimela as chief executive.

Mzimela's departure came after the exodus of 14 board members in September, including chairperson Cheryl Carolus.

SAA said its board of directors was in the process of recruiting a permanent CEO. Applications had been received and the board was evaluating them.

"The board is confident that this process will be completed by 31 March 2013, at which time recommendations will be presented to the Minister [of public enterprises, Malusi Gigaba]."

The board had asked Mango CEO Nico Bezuidenhout to oversee the group's operations, SAA said.

I'm sure acting CEO has a longer probation period than 3 months. He should just get the farking boot not a suspension.

But hey they did not join the struggle to be poor hey  Bandjies vir boeties. They must be proud to be worse than the Apartheid government ever was.

I always try to explain the NP government to people by saying that if there was R20, the NP maybe took R5 and there was R15 left.

With the anc government, say there is R20, the anc takes R30 and the country is sitting with a debt of -R10.

Yes remember in apartheid you were not allowed to eat shyte. It's much better now.. Now you are allowed to eat shyte. You should be greatfully and forever vote for them becuase without the ANC you would still not be allowed to eat shyte, and for the privileged to eat shyte the ANC will tax you to death. And you will believe you are lucky because at least now you have shyte to eat.

But the NP and the ANC merged. So now they take R35, or did you factor that in?
