The South African Airways operations manager, who was supposed to appear before parliament on Tuesday morning, was bumped off a flight from Johannesburg to Cape Town and could not make the meeting.
Public Enterprises portfolio committee members heard this morning how SAA operations manager Tebogo Ntsimane was thrown off one of SAA's planes bound for Cape Town because of overbooking.
Ntsimane and new SAA CEO Siza Mzimela were unable to honour a scheduled meeting with the portfolio committee on Tuesday morning to answer to allegations of price collusions between the airlines in the period of the 2010 Fifa World Cup.
Only the airliner's legal representative Louisa Zondi was able to make the meeting, but she was sent packing by irate committee members who demanded that a full component of SAA managers should appear before parliament.
"The state is running an airliner that cannot even book flights for its own operational manager," said an exasperated DA Public Enterprises spokesman Pieter van Dalen.
