SABC 2 now in Nicam Stereo?

Tuned into SABC 2 tonight and now it seems to be in Nicam Stereo (my 5.1 surround sound setup sudenly has the rear speakers working with SABC 2 now as it has been working with E and Mnet).

SABC2 has always had NICAM stereo. More likely SABC is actually broadcasting actual surround encoded content (Dolby prologic).

SABC1 and SABC2 were in Nicam when they were still TV1 and CCV, back in the early 90s.
etv has also been in Nicam since it launched.

Nicam is only a terrestrial free-to-air broadcast concept? M-Net terrestrial embed their audio in their signal.

SABC 2 and 3 were Nicam many years ago, talking just before we got DSTV so looking at 13 years ago, the TV we had was Nicam Stereo compatible and I still remember my dad getting excited cause the TV is in stereo now. Was weird for so many years to have a TV not in Stereo to then suddenly have it.

Hi Lupus. SABC3 and NNTV (its previous name) were never in Nicam, and still are not today. Apparently the 6Mhz addon to VHF channel 13 interferes with some other band.
SABC3 is of course in stereo on satellite. I remember buying an analogue satellite decoder so I could watch all the American shows on SABC3 in stereo. This was before SABC3 was on DStv.

Oh perhaps it was 1 then, did you get the SABC satellite that lasted like a year or two? How was it?
