A skills audit by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has found that executives and senior managers at the SABC do not meet the minimum strategic thinking skills, The Star reported on Wednesday.

The PwC report, which was presented to parliament's communication oversight committee on Tuesday, also found that 56% of the broadcaster's management were unable to demonstrate adequate problem solving levels and make critical decisions.

The report stated that the SABC also lacked digital migration skills.

Despite this, SABC board member Bongani Khumalo told Parliament the board was fully functional and senior managers were men and women of high integrity who were "effectively supervised", the newspaper reported.

In a statement, DA MP Marian Shinn called on Communication Minister Yunus Carrim to take drastic steps to address the failures at the SABC and to consider implementing a management rescue plan.

Brainiacs at the SABC, slim kinders it seems, not!
:D

I would love too this type of audit done at government ministers level .

PwC? Not that the underlying premise is wrong, but I would ask for a second opinion if it was PwC.

They should stick to ranking cricketers.

Over here the 'National Accountant' of a major charity, an ex South African, was jialed for 5 yrs for defrauding the charity i.e stealing over $400K.
Turns out he did not even have any qualifications and previous accounting background prior to coming here, whereupon PwC gave him his break as a 'chartered accountant' no less, then he leveraged that background as he hopped from corporation to corporation each time leaving just as he was being found out.

If they do not even do due diligence on employment, and have such guys working for them, who are they to judge 'strategic skills' which is much more nebulous than chartered accounting.

Just saying.....

Nobody cares what you're just saying.

The whole Government and their disciples don't have thinking skills.
and with Cadre Employment we have a big black hole with no thinking skills.

I know a couple of them. We once worked at the same company. My dog used to follow me to work every morning then go to the Bohemian at lunch time (to get T-Bones from patrons). When she returned, she would often need to relieve herself and chose the office of one of the SABC board members. Every damn day my dog (who was properly house trained) would take a leak or drop a log in this person's office.

Eventually, the thinking skills kicked in and said person closed the office door and told me that my dog must stay at home. The dog didn't listen.
