SABC interdicted from censoring protest coverage

Will the SABC still have a news dept by then given the number of journalists that are either resigning or being fired?

Gladys the tea lady will be reading the news, interviewing happy SA people, and doing the weather.

This is where the ANC is really bad, Hlaudimon should be carrying a brown box to his car as we speak.

The fact that he isn't says more about the ANC than about Hlaudimon.

Will it matter? I'ts not like they actually report the news!

if he achieves his goal set by the ANC then he will probably get a bonus as well. the damage done is irrelevant to the government. they are just ensuring victory in the local elections. by doing this they are denying millions of people access to info. speaks volumes as to the lengths they are going to ensure victory. just ask yourself if they prepared to do this why wouldn't they rig the elections as well?

as akescpt said, after 3rd august they will say "whoops, sorry we made a mistake"...

The aim is not to show broad, VERY BROAD SA public that protests against service delivery and ANC are all around the country...
It's better to keep that under the carpet till elections finish as per Zupta's orders to Faith and then puppet Faith to Shiny head.

The Independent Communications Authority of SA on Wednesday said the SABC has agreed to abide by the order to withdraw the ban on broadcasting violent protests.

Icasa spokesperson Paseka Maleka told News24 that the broadcaster will abide by the order of its council as issued on July 11.

The SABC was indicted on Wednesday from following through with its protest policy by the High Court in Pretoria, following an application by the Helen Suzman Foundation (HSF).

SABC spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago told News24 earlier on Wednesday that the SABC could not respond to Icasa's order within the prescribed seven days until the HSF's court application was heard in the High Court.
