SABC not dumping Afrikaans TV shows

It is further alleged that the Afrikaans news bulletin has been canned from SABC 2 with no forewarning to the viewers. The SABC refutes this allegation with the contempt it deserves, as the corporation revealed its 2014 World Cup broadcast plans in a press conference, on the 29th of May 2014 indicating how programming in general will be affected.

Hmm, so not withstanding the rather vile language they use - "SABC refutes this allegation with the contempt it deserves", the broadcaster had a press conference. Whoopdedo.

A press conference. For a *TV* broadcaster, who communicates to the public via... what is it again, oh yes. Television.

I think a rather more apt way to communicate would be interstitials or scrolling messages at the bottom of the screen, explaining to viewers that things have moved.

As they have done absolutely none of this, and his explanations seem rather more coherent, than George Orwells^H^H ANC's newspeak, I know who I'm leaning towards believing.

So lets see .... SAA, the state is the shareholder and only a certain race can apply to be pilot.... SABC, state broadcaster and Afrikaans is missing .... OH yes, indigenisation, like the farmers having to give up 50% of their farms

indigenisation - Definition - Indigenization is a term that is used in a variety of ways depending on the context. The term is primarily used by anthropologists to describe what happens when locals take something from the outside and make it their own (e.g. Africanization, Americanization). [1] Pseudo-indigenization occurs when outsiders try to force the infusion of their culture into another culture. [2]

In world politics, indigenization is the process in which non-Western cultures redefine their native land for better use in agriculture and mass marketing. Due to imperialism and the impetus to modernize, many countries have invoked Western values of self-determination, liberalism, democracy and independence in the past. But now that they are experiencing their own share of economic prosperity, technological sophistication, military power and political cohesion, they desire to revert to their ancestral cultures and religious beliefs.

Fahrk, I had to look that up, thought I might spare others the trouble. :)

Then can we stop paying our tv license fee? Why should I pay when they don't even want to broadcast in Afrikaans? You don't support my language and I won't support you with my money...

The only channel worse than SABC to get news would be ANN7.

I actually like their response.

Tinus is a bias melo-dramatic prick. I agree with them. Many other languages were "removed", yet he chooses to focus on Afrikaans only.
