Lately I have being limited to just a couple of SABC channels (just moved into a new place)... however, almost every night there seems to be movies relating to race.

If its not some colored girl being treated badly in the American Civil war, its some abo kids from aussie being hunted by white aussies.

Are they trying to specifically insight race conflict in the country or are they showing all of this to desensitize people to race issues?

It really looks like some people in the ANC are pushing for a racial conflict show down.

Please, if you see a film or show on SABC dealing with race, could you please post the time, the channel and the show on TV here - Just wanna see what the results of this would look like.

I noticed it as well.
Only got a TV last week.
I havent watched TV for 6 years.

They are inciting racial discord.

They should be carefull, they might just get what they wish for.

certainly true, i have also noticed and mentioned this before.

They've been doing this for a very long time. One of the tricks is to advertise a popular movie and then in the last week to change it to a propaganda one with a racial theme. I think it's designed to stoke up the flames and remind everyone of apartheid. It's an ANC thang!

Also, they pick movies with black people in the lead roles. Comedies now seem to be full of African Americans with accompanying humour. They seem quite out of place and the culture is very different so why do it?

Unfortunately, I didnt take notes of times. My TV sits in the background on SABC 3 most of the time while I am on my PC... mostly watching it to track the Zim story. Im sure last night there was a story about some colored slave girl that pretended to be white, I just remember looking up and seeing a slave get beaten.

This is about the 3rd time I have noticed a show like that in less than 5 days. Ill keep my eye open and take note of the times and channels.

is there any weasly snipes movie which did not air on SABC b4?

There's another angle that folks may not be considering:

The showing of movies showing 'racial tension' in other parts of the world,
in order for SA people to start getting the idea that they're not so alone
in their current racial problems.

This kind of deliberate allowing of 'movies showing other countries problems'
was a big tactic in the old apartheid days.

It helps make Joe Citizen think that 'its no better anywhere else'.

Ya... The amount of films aimed at "African American success stories" against a majority of racist southern hicks has risen drastically in the last 5 years. SABC1 is particularly guilty of showing too many of those movies.. If white people actually had SABC1 set up on their tv's they would know. Unfortunately its not worth watching, ever.. And therefore noone notices..

If anyone actually watched any of these movies from beginning till end you would understand the themes in these movies. They do not promote or insite racist propaganda, infact its quite the opposite

..which makes us wonder why they picked it when the usual SABC offerings are so low-brow.
True, I also think E.TV needs a mention in the same breath. Do they actually think a month of Jean Claude van Damme movies on a Sunday night is quality?

The same could be asked of Multichoice with series like Ella Blue. ;)

IMO, the programming we see on TV reflects the state of the country.

Why do you think the UFS video got so much airtime they milked it for all its worth, but let a politician tell you to leave the country or sings hateful songs in public and that news gets a fleeting mention. I try and not watch SABC TV to much. Fortunately i'm able to afford pay TV. I'm still a good boy and pay my TV license though.
