SABC targeted in business email compromise

The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has confirmed that it was the victim of a business email compromise that affected some of its staff’s email accounts.

The state-owned broadcaster’s head of communications, Mmoni Ngubane, told MyBroadband that its IT team has secured the compromised mailboxes.

This happened in the year 2000, this issue was only picked up recently as a new intern thought he was the shxt and was the first person in 25 years to try and work.

What makes you think they have backups. That's way too much forward planning for them.

They have them, those lists are resold every few months, so the assorted debt collectors will have a sort of up to date list. Still though i get calls for a person I do not know, who had my number previously, and he did not pay, so every so often I get SMS and calls looking for him, to pay his R6k plus arrears.

Weird, they send us letters asking who stays at the address. Those backups don't seem to be very good or up to date.
