Just got the mail

Been paying all these years, but i refuse to anymore. The usual excuse of i dont watch SABC bla bla.

Add to that the ridiculous increase given to a fraud and general d00s running the South African Broadcasting Circus.

I will no longer support corruption, nope wont do it

Wouldn't that end up against your credit record?

Likewise - will keep an eye on this thread. Will sell TV if have to.

Got this message today. "The longer you avoid paying your TV Lic the more penalties you pay. Take back your power. Pay R 498,00 ABSA Acc: 4067004409 Branch Code 632005 ref: xxxxx"

Looks so extremely dodge. Might as well just piss the money away

I can understand people not wanting to pay their licence, considering the woeful programming and the half a million average SABC salary.

They cannot do zilch against you if you don't pay your account. And no they are not allowed to declare you to a credit agency. The vast majority of this country don't pay their tv licences and all get away with it.

Paid mine yesterday :)

I don't know about the credit record but I don't think you'll be able to buy a TV license cause your TV license will be invalid if not paid up.

Got my notification last month, didn't pay it yet.. I do plan on paying it :)

I've stopped paying mine around 6 or 7 years ago.

Whenever I or one of my circle of friends need to buy a TV we ask one of our friends' father for his TV license. You then just tell the salesman the TV is for your father and you're golden. Remember they want to make a sale as badly as you want a TV.

We just buy the old man a bottle of brandy or something for the favour. I'd rather spend that TV licence money on him than on the SABC. He's sticking it to the man as much as we do :p

Slightly OT, if the SABC is actually keeping track of the number of TV's assigned to one ID number, this old man will probably have around 20 on his name already.
