London - British brewer SABMiller announced on Tuesday that it had agreed a takeover by Anheuser Busch InBev, the world's biggest beer producer, in a deal worth about £71 billion ($109 billion).

Belgian-Brazilian group AB InBev, the maker of Budweiser and Stella Artois lagers, struck a deal with the maker of Foster's and Grolsch at the fifth time of asking.

“The boards of AB InBev and SABMiller announce that they have reached agreement in principle on the key terms of a possible recommended offer” priced at an improved £44 per SABMiller share, the British group said in a statement to the London Stock Exchange.

Will be very interested to see how this plays out...

A company that controls 1/3rd of the international beer market is something I see the EU and the US having a bit of a problem with tbh.

What happens to the shares once the merger goes through?

What happens to the price of beer, and will Castle now taste like Heineken?
Not a chance, InBev wants what SAB has in terms of the emerging markets. SAB is just more "street smart" if you know what I mean

Nice little jump this morning in share price…….11 % up now settling at 10.7%. Not too shabby thanks. And I don't drink beer

SABM is dual listed, primarily on the LSE.
Would AB delist it here?

AB listed in Brussels and NYSE
