Sacred 2?

Do you get any errors? What PC specs do you have?

no errors, it just does not start, double click file and nothing happens at all ... 4800+, 8800GTX, X-Fi elite pro ... checked forums ... no help ... sigh ... it looked quite pretty the time it did run and seemed it would be lotsa fun ...

What OS you running? Have you got recent gfx + sound drivers? I'm guessing you've already tried uninstall - reinstall??

Try to update it > http://update.sacred2.com/dl_international.html

I am running it on Vista just fine. Make sure to have your GFX drivers up to date.
Ohyeah, if you did not apply the patch you need to run the game with admin rights on Vista, thats bout only
reason I can see that the game won't start up properly. With latest patch you don't need admin rights anylonger.
If your getting problems on XP I guess at the GFX drivers. The sound drivers will give you problems, if they are
gonna do, when you load a level.

The game is pretty huge... read on one of the forums somewhere that running from one side of the map to the other would take 6 hours if you knew the way. There are also portals that you can activate after discovering them and also ports you can sail from but I have not used them other then for a quest.

There are horses and the special mounts that you can get. You don't need to take the riding skill to be able to ride but there are stat bonuses to your mount for having the skill when mounted. You can fight while mounted but unless you have the class mount you can't use your combos or combat arts and buffs. You can use all these when you have your class mount which is obtained by a simple quest line you pick up when following the main storyline. If you are fighting while mounted your mount dies if you die.

The map and game play is huge as I already said, around 5000 quests. Gold is easy to come by and things get very expensive very quickly. e.g. around level 20 your class mount is sitting between 250k -320k gold, but that is not really a problem unless your mount dies a lot. Also your character can reach level 200 I believe, I have not confirmed this, so far the highest I got is 26.

The game has DRM and you can install it and authorise it on 2 machines at a time. You cannot use both at the same time but this is a "legal" restriction not a physical game restriction. I installed it on 2 pc's and played a lan game with my house mate without any issues. There was no lag or other issues.

The game is rather buggy like the first one. Very iritating voice issues with npc and looping emotes. I've also had issues where npc's don't despawn after completing a quest and followed me till I exited the game.

I've given up on it after a about 6 hours of play with various characters as it continues to crash to desktop even after applying the 450mb patch and 20mb hot fix.

There are nice features like a shared storage trunk for all your characters, this was available after starting a mutiplayer character. Also stuff does not get bound to characters so you can have hand-me-downs to other characters on the good stuff.

The game is pretty much easy mode even on the silver difficulty. There are 3 difficulties, bronze, silver and hardcore. Bronze and silver are easy mode. Hardcore is a little more interesting... no saves to go back to or reserections, your character dies and thats it game over, thank you for playing. Dying in bronze and silver takes you back to the last activated resurection monolith, so make sure you activate them in the area you quest or you could have a long walk back. Also saving is a rash, there is a F9 quick save but almost anything you do over writes it. You hand in a completed quest it saves; you die it spawns you a the monolith and saves; you enter or exit a cave or dungeon it saves; you portal it saves.

Anyway it is a fun game. I've given up on it for now, mainly because it crashes after every 1-2 hours of play for me and I've gone back to WoW for a bit.

Now after some time of playing what do you guys think of this game? Was considering buying it but not sure...Worried I might get totally bored of it like FC2 and waster another pile of green.

So is it a good game. My brother played it for a bit I wanna know if it's worth installing and playing?

I love this game, its kept me quite busy lately. However, its very buggy when you first install, there is 1,4 GB of patches to Download, and after these patches the game is a lot better. It must be noted that a couple hundred MB of that is extra content though, with a new Christmas island to explore etc.

Dont try judge it without patching and make sure if you have the UK version ( the one here in SA) that you onlly DL teh UK patches.

I play a lot of Simgle player, and some multiplayer with a couple of mates. We are taking a while to go through, but its nice to explore the world and find th eextra stuff.

Its an open world, so you can go anywhere you want, almost, not like D2 or Titan quest where you had to travel to each town in order to progress. Theres hundreds of sidequests, character specific quests, great items, set items, cool combat arts ( eg spells, abilities) and dark and light paths to choose from. All in all, its my favourite game of the year . Although others complain about the bugs, I personally havent found many after the patches.
