Hey guys
Problem is i just got my second 4850 yesterday for xfire, installed had a few small issues with drivers and that but i got it sorted. Then i tested my set up wit GTA 4, not really an improvement maybe 4 frames but ya not wat i was expecting, oh and crysis warhead got worse. I then had no sound, and decided i need to format anyways so i formatted, everythings seems fine but still no sound. Is it possible i blew my on board sound during card installation? Also i couldn't get GTA4 to install after came up with a microsoft problem, no errors just said game isn't compatible with %P(On the actual game installer where you click next, next etc) or something like that with Microsoft somewhere, but that might be cause of vista's UAC. PLease guys i need help, with reseting the BIOS help my sound? It picks up me plugging speakers in but nothing makes noise out the speakers.

P5Q deluxe
4 gigs ram 800
2 x 4850
700watt raidmax
500gb HDD
Vista 64bit(newly installed with last format)

What is your main audio output device in control panel? afaik, windows might me picking up some sound emulator on the display cards (have it on my card) and is sending it to that device in stead of the one where the speakers are connected.

Its set to speakers. Picks up my 5.1 system wen i plug it in. Haven't tried taken the second card out yet. On guru3d forums a guy said i should install these new drivers from Asus going to try tonight but my speakers stopped working after the card install, and i mean a complete format wit newly installed drivers for everything. I've got SoundMax control panel played with all sorts of things on there to try get it to work.

Just did automatic updates(Finished:No more updates). some error with SP1 think my disc its on is scratched or something.

Did u make sure your Sound Device is set to your onboard and not your GPU?

2 places u can look ether in the program that comes with the sound drivers.
Or in the sound and audio device settings

"game isn't compatible with %P"

That is the SP1 error. You need SP1 on Vista to install the game. If you already have it, you'll need to go and tinker with the Registry I think. Gimme a shout if you want to try it out. Otherwise running the installer in compatibility mode should work.

Do you need a specific 64 bit service pack? I've got nags but its x86:( did nag ever bring out the 64 bit SP on one of their discs?

Will resseting my BIOS help with the sound? Has any1 ever blown there on board sound install a graphic card, like is it possible?

Cant find anything to do with changing between on board and graphic card sound.:(:(:(
