Okay, so I have been a mac user for like 9 years and never bothered to sort out this issue but I think its time it finally gets sorted. In safari, when using the search bar, it keeps taking me to the global google search engine - but I want it to default to the google.co.za engine! HOW DO YOU DO THIS. Lol, it is annoying the crap out of me because somtimes i want to filter to just south african websites which means going to google.co.za and searching again. Has anyone figured this out? For the hell of me I cant get it to default to google.co.za.

Thanks!

I have never done this but can think of a few ways
They may not work as they are quick thoughts

a) AnySearch extension https://github.com/mcs07/AnySearch-safari-extension

b) Edit Hosts File and use Bing to redirect to google.co.za
Hosts file is in /private/etc/hosts
You should be able to google what line you need to add

c) Use an operator in Google search bar location:South Africa - Doesn't achieve exactly what you want

site:co.za will restrict results to .co.za sites.

eg

some search string site:co.za

The regional setting will define what search pops up though.
settings / general / International (on IOS)
settings / language & region / Region (on OSX)

Otherwise, choose use google.co.za in the google website site preferences
