I think it is completely uneconomical to bother with a 1.6 focus. Do yourself a huge favour and just buy a bigger engined car with your 'mod money'. Otherwise I can guarantee you that you will blow R20k+ on mods and in the end you will hardly feel the difference in power and most certainly will have a noisy, thirsty car.

To power a car dude...lol:p Drag, Drift, Hillclimb ??? I 2 want to know

13BT powered VW Bug for a daily driver.
I've put the project on hold until 2012 when my current car is paid off. I'm really itching but now that I have a house bond the money to play has lessened considerably. :(

Totally agree... modding your 1.6 is nuts.

Any idea's where I could purchase a replacement engine for my car? Going through the dealers would surely be pricey (after their 300% markup!)

I would gladly pay R10 000 for a 2L

Never replace the engine on your car. You'll will have to re-register it and it will become a Code 3 car which is basically worthless.

Just add some minor mods to the engine starting with the airfilter,

A cone airfilter will give you lekker sound, but will inhale warm air into the engine thus decreasing performance unless you have a heat shield or induction kit.

A pancake filter is great for performance as its blocked from the warm air of the engine, but won't have a lekka sound unless you make holes in the airfilter box. But still won't beat the sound of the cone.

Changing the airfilter won't have any significant performance increases, the difference will only show on paper when doing dyno :)
