Safety deposit box/secure off sight storage for sensitive documents in SA?

I'm looking for a secure, safe way of storing important and sometimes confidential documentation such as passports, birth certificates, legal contracts, etc.

Kind of like the stuff you see on TV. Does this sort of thing exist in reality in SA and if so who does it and how much does it cost?

Most banks offer safe storage boxes for an annual fee. Ask your own bank. The only drawback is you don't usually have instant access you usually give some kind of advanced notice so they can drag your precious up from the bowels of the earth beneath the bank.

Just buy a small safe and keep it at home in a closet. Or not ?

Blu, we are renting at the moment so installing a safe isn't really much of an option.

Also, I'm lookin g for a place with decent security, fire protection, etc.

Safes are also a target during burglaries, etc.

I have just realised how much important documentation is just sitting in a concertina file in the top of a cupboard.

There's one on the Upper Orange Street by the Caltex Garage near Nona Lina Pizzeria. It's pretty hi tech from what I hear, biometrics etc to access your box. I think you even drive in securely.
I don't know the name but can find out, the bank options is most likely the cheaper option!

Where are you located?

I know banks do this and there is also a place in Gateway (DBN) that does this.
