SAIX and IS pings the same ???

Hey guys,

I just want to know, is there something wrong with my router or with my line ? I get the exact same latencies with both of my SAIX and IS accounts..

The SAIX one pings at about 73ms avg and the IS one at 78ms avg. Shouldnt the SAIX one be way lower,say for example in the 60ms range ???

This really confuses me and I want to know what the problem is...:confused:

Any advice or tips, will be greatly appreciated.

Local latency will be almost identical. They only differ considerably when it comes to international, and even then the latency on SAIX (while lower than IS) is by no means great when compared to international providers.
 
One thing that bothers me still, is that I used to get pings of 38-48ms in games, nowadays I can NEVER get anything below 57, its like it constantly stays at 60,62.

Can anyone explain that to me ? I have a Microcom router, do you guys think that the router can be the reason for the difference in my ping ? It puzzles me so, that I want to go and buy myself another new R800 router...:confused:
 
Same here. Pings are generally in the 50s for me on my shaped account..on my unshaped i get about between 20ms and 40ms depending on where in S.A the server is being hosted.
 
The weird thing is, that I used to get the 38ms-48ms range with my shaped accounts. Now like i said, its like it stays constantly at 60,61ms. It is irritating me !!!! :mad:

But don't you guys think that I could be because of my router ?
 
The local SAIX and local IS pings aren't the same for me. With SAIX i get about 60ms average, but with IS it ranges from 110-180ms on average. This is to the local SAIX Counter-Strike Source servers.
 
Hmmmmm.....anyone else getting something similar to what raVid has when gaming on the local SAIX servers ? With FEAR my friend was usually in the 60-70ms range a month ago and nowadays he is getting 38-49ms....the range that I also used to get.But in FEAR my ping is stuck DEAD SOLID at 60ms ! Sometimes goes up to 62 and goes back down to 60ms !!!

He didnt change anything though, still has the same router and SAIX account with the same service provider.Its almost as if something ain't right at our exchanges...or my line is screwed...but I never get any disconnects.

I think it has something to do with some settings on my router, but I think I should go and test at my friend's house today after work. THIS IS DRIVING ME INSANE !!!!
 
when i play bf 2 never ping more than 25 sometimes as low as 13-15

i got a cheap ass mecer router with a 512 k line running routesentry
 
WOW, to get a ping that low you must live right next to your exchange then ? :D

Interesting that you have a Mecer router, I got told by my ISP that Mecer routers are crap, same as my Microcom one, but I dont believe a word they say.

They also dont seem to have any answers for me....

If your router works, it works, simple as that. Maybe I am one of the unlucky adsl subscribers that gets routed via Hong Kong, for LOCAL access !
