I saw that Afrihost uses the IS (Internet Services) backbone. I am wondering why the IS ISP'ers are so much cheaper?
Is it generally slower and more faulty than the SAIX? We used to have 384k 3gb ADSL moons ago before we switched to Neotel and we were with Cybersmart which uses SAIX and never had problems.
I would like a 4MB connection with 5GB monthly bandwidth, but I am afraid I can't say that I trust the cheap prices of Afrihost.
Which are the cheapest SAIX providers and IS providers? What are the major differences.
Moved from Cape Town to Richards Bay.
Also, the line rental for 4MB is apparently R413pm. Are there any other hidden costs (if I remember correctly we used to pay R92pm or so for a "line rental" apart from the DSL line which doesn't make sense). I do not want to make calls, I only want internet.
I.E R413 + Afrihost R145 = R558pm for a 4MB 5GB bandwidth connection?
Thanks in advance,
Ulrich
EDIT: Telkom's Do Broadband 5GB is R554, but they state the following:

What is the price of that line rental?Telkom said:Excludes line rental, voice and fax call charges.
The local data applies after the initial 5GB data has reached its limit.
