In looking for a new ADSL account scheme, I have been contemplating many things. The question on the table right now is; in terms of local connectivity (especially for gaming locally), is a SAIX account better than an IS account to a point where it is highly noticeable?

My logic behind this is that I mainly play America's Army, whose servers are predominantly hosted by SAIX Gaming (SGS). With this in mind, surely I will get far better latency on a SAIX local account due to it being on the same backbone? Or am I splitting hairs here?

Local pings are virtually identical, you'd have a tough time telling them apart.

If that is the case then it is probably better to go with IS considering the price difference.

Anyone disagree?

What time do you normally play? because at night the two accounts are identical in terms of ping etc. I have tried local only IS accounts and local only unshaped SAIX accounts and they performed exactly the same.

I play whenever I can, which is usually at night. Though there are times I enjoy the occasional day match. Is there a substantial difference during the day?

only during the day, i have the axxess local unshaped and an IS30gb local

I still havnt managed to see a difference in speed tho so I would say to go for an IS account, they are way cheaper.
If you get the SAIX local only account then make sure you dont get the prepaid one because that one is shaped.

So it is only worth while if I game during the day? Otherwise at night it is basically the same?
