Hi guys,

Is saix.news.co.za down. I haven't been able to connect to it.
Can you guys ping it? Can you connect to it?

news.saix.co.za & news.saix.net both dead for me

but news.mweb.co.za works for me

Hmmm...weird, because both news.saix.net and news.mweb.co.za resolve to the same address.
Also tried news.mweb.co.za and got a time out. It's crazy.

When I was on Mweb I could never connect to SAIX news server. The news.mweb.co.za server crawled (4kb/s)

Now back on DoBroadband and maxing out my line.

Guys....

If you connect to news.mweb.co.za from a mweb account it redirects you to the mweb news server.
If you connect to news.mweb.co.za from a SAIX/IS or any other account. It redirects you to the SAIX news server.

So don't be confused. Mweb did that when they started to use their own network.

I really would like to know if anyone else can connect to news.saix.net

Who is your ISP?

Axxess. I contacted them and got an email back from one of the support technicians. He attached an image of a
"quick" test he did using GrabIt and it shows what looks like an active down but he said it was very slow. I have tried to
ping news.saix.net from my corporate and also got a timeout.
Will try again when I get home later today.

What is your IP so we can tell you directly if you will be able to connect or not.

You will always get a timeout because news.saix.net has never replied to pings, no matter what account you use.

Run tracert rather, then you can see if it is a DNS problem, or a network problem, or if the server is really down. If the server is not responding to pings it won't help, but it eliminates the first 2 steps of the problem.

I'm on MWeb DNS, and various news hosts all resolves to 196.28.80.229 (Mweb news server).
