SAIX News Server - cannot connect

I have no idea why, but when I try to download files via the SAIX News Server (using a Telkom SAIX account, Do3), it just doesn't connect (constantly throws an 'unable to connect' error for each thread). IS however connects and works just fine (using a local only IS account). I'm using the details as provided in other threads, i.e. news.saix.net, port 119, and for SAIX I've limited the connections to 2 or 3. I've also tried using both GrabIt and Alt.Binz, as well as using my SAIX unshaped account to connect (just to test)... but to no avail.

Is there something I'm missing to get this to work properly? Before anyone asks, the Telkom account does everything just fine - it's just downloading from the SAIX news server that does not work.

EDIT: I've been trying to connect for the past 5 weeks now and it always just says "unable to connect", irrespective of the time of month or day.

I'm aware of that based on the other news server related queries posts. I never doubted that anyone else couldn't connect, and am looking for someone else who may have the same or a similar issue, not someone who's connection is working fine.
