Do Telkom actually have news servers?

Was downloading fine from 4:00pm till about 6:00pm...

It has been stuck on 0KB/s for the past 6 and half hours?

So much for using my 30GB local.

Telkom is a circus the only thing missing is the clown.

No use phoning Telkom, as no one in Technical knows what a news server is, spent most of the night on the phone and not one Telkom employee knows what the hell I am talking about.
:wtf:

Back to my Mweb account i go at least their news servers are working again....

Oh I can beat that.

A few days ago my telephone line was dead (no dial-tone and couldn't dial in or out so dead, d-e-a-d).

I call in (from my cell, mind you) to report this. After waiting 20-minutes (R40 gone) I get through to a waste of oxygen. I tell him that my line is dead. He asks me what router I'm using. I tell him in slow, agitated words, "My line is DEAD. There is no dial-tone. Dead." He tells me he needs to test it. I tell him, "Please just log a fault, send out a techie and give me a reference number." He tells me, "No. Sir, what is your router?"

I tell him it's a Netgear DG834GT. He tells me he doesn't pick it up. At his point I'm fuming. I tell him, "OF COURSE YOU DON'T. THE LINE IS DEAD."

In the end I wasted R60 on that ****ing call but at least I got my reference number. Like Hell will Telkom reimburse me for that bull****. And don't tell me to ****ing text them or log a fault on the website. Have you EVER heard back from them after doing that? I haven't.

Telkom's support are 99% idiots. My hat goes off to the 1% that keep that ****ing place afloat.

So I use Telkom purely for my ADSL. I'll be damned if I'll use them when there's an alternative.

You will probably have better luck trying SAIX as I believe it's their news server. I never had a problem with Telkom's news servers, used to get full speed at any time of the day as long as the contents is cached. Ever since I installed my new line I can only download for a few minutes at a time. You have to disconnect your connection to get it going again. I have a few work a rounds eg. my traffic counter can run a script to reconnect my pppoe connection if it seems to stall. Other option I'm trying is to use my Mikrotik to dial 4 connections and then split the traffic over it. Post back if you find someone in Telkom/Saix that can assist you.

No issues with saix my side , is the file u downloading cached i check not cached stuff is downloading @ 110 kps while cached is full 960 kps :-)

Ouch. Incompetent fools. It's like when you e-mail a company and they send you a template e-mail unrelated to the problem you've stated.
