I seem to get packet loss whilst using a SAIX account (TelkomSA and WebAfrica).

I don't really notice it whilst browsing, but gaming its terrible. Every 5-15 seconds the netgraph (Little Graph ingame) with your connection status goes red and I loss packets for a second, then its back to normal.

I play COD2 online and its terrible trying to play FPS's with constant packet loss.
I'm not the only person who has this problem as a couple of others stated they have the same issues. This started about late Wednesday night.

A friend was having the same issues and changed to an IS account and the packet issues are solved.

Anyone know whats up with SAIX? Anyone having having the same problems?

Can someone point to to a website that lists all the major faults TElkom are working on?

Agreed.

I tried playing CS:S Today and couldn't take the packet loss. I've only noticed it now though, dunno wat could be causing it, but i hope its fixed soon :(

Same thing here, Packet loss since late Wednesday.
Trying to report a fault just get me frustrated as all hell.
The operator only seems to know how to simple issues and insists on going through the routine for "standard" faults.

Anyone know how to get resolution on this sort of thing ?

A ping to www.telkomsa.net shows no packet loss but if you try to www.saix.co.za then you lose packets quite regulary, and any connection as a result beyond this is the same.

This happened on the 26th of Dec last year too. I got a response to an email fault report back then saying it was due to the earthquake in the pacific rim, and cable repairs being needed. (I at least confirmed there was a cable break but was still not convinced it should be affecting my traffic to europe) However the email response took over two weeks from time of logging to arrive and the fault persisted another 2 weeks.

oh heres a funny one, I have the same problem, I reported this to telkom and got their technicians out. They determined that my line was unstable and dropped me from a 4 meg line to a 2 meg line... and I still have the problem!

Well some good news, I managed to get past frontline support and now it seems the problem is solved. Hold thumbs.
