So, anyone notice lately(the last week or so) the pathetic latency from SAIX to some SAIX servers but mainly to UUNET/IS?

Ive tested between UUNET and IS and the latency remains flat 60ms but tests from our UUNET server to SAIX and from IS to SAIX run around 300-400ms locally.

What the hell is going on, its never been like this between UUNET and SAIX, did SAIX remove an ARM from UUNET now aswell?

MTR from cpt uunet datacentre to saix.net(located in Capetown aswell)

This looks like seriously stuffed up routing, Capetown->JHB->Capetown, just more proof why Telkom cannot work efficiently!!!

Yup - my SAIX -> IS connection is terrible, with lots of connection breaks and poor response.

ISDSL -> IS seems to have improved dramatically though.

The thing is, its allways been SAIX and IS, but now the last week, its SAIX crap to IS/UUNET and its definitely not IS/UUNET at fault, they perform 100% between each other still and allways have.

Wtf is SAIX doing?

Ye I know Iburst makes use of UUNET, the point is, its only the SAIX peering that is stuffed beyond. Even connecting with SAIX, I notice that traffic in Capetown gets routed to jhb then to capetown and then back to johburg and then to the capetown destination.

ie. SAIX stuffed up somewhere, BIGTIME.

This is rediculous.. its just getting worse and worse!!

From SAIX adsl to UUNET a nice and smooth 450ms locally!! wtf is the point of hosting locally now if the latency is in fact higher than internationally.

Im fuming now!
