This is great little box if you want to build a small home NAS with something like TrueNAS.

Which processor is in there? The link is either not directing properly or just not saying.

I’m keen depending on the processor really.

Crazy if that is 8 years old I shudder to think how old my N36L is.

I wouldn't try to run much on the Celeron, I used it as the host for my DAS and it only ran TrueNAS for file sharing services.

Yeah as much as I like the idea of it being a "newer" machine I'm not going to win much over my perfectly working Microsoft N36L Unraid setup.

those Celeron CPUs don't do much in terms of video functionality (stock standard it uses VGA with a pretty low resolution capabilty anyway) - if you do want video functionality out of any microserver then you need to add a PCI Express low profile graphics card into it .... that could possible add the quick Sync video functionality you want depending on the card you use

Yeah I have a GT610 in my Microserver but that comes from a time before H.265.

it will play H.265 depending on the graphics card - my microserver with similar specs to this but including a Radeon R5 430 plays the files but it stutters a lot because the graphics card isn't fast enough - i did not bother upgrading because a low profile card that will do the job will cost me twice what this microserver cost me brand new (back in the day) so i just use a media player/TV box for those files)

Yeah I have no problem in home as I just Direct Stream/Play which doesn’t do any transcoding.

But I have more and more people remotely playing off my Plex server and so I moved just Plex to an old Chromebox with an i7 that can do hardware H265 decoding.
