Recently I discovered that Vodacom is charging different prices for data depending on whether you on a data only or voice contract. At least this is what I'm told by someone I know that works at cellucity.
So the other day I had to topup the data on my MyGig 10 Promo contract. I logged into the vodacom portal and selected a once off bundle of another 5GB @ R269-00 only to find out I need airtime on it in order to purchase. No problem, I said. Logged into FNB to buy the data there, only to find the 5GB is R399.
I found this very strange so logged back into the vodacom portal, selected my voice contract and started selecting the same data package only to see it is also R399-00.
Called someone I knew at Cellucity and asked them what was up with that and their response was that data is cheaper on a data only contract than a voice contract.
Personally I don't understand this kind of thinking. Prepaid/Add-on data should be the same no matter what contract you are on.
Just thought it would be something interesting for those that weren't aware. For me it's just a hastle to have to first load airtime in order to get the lower bundle price.
