Superbad grossed $169 mil and cost $20 mil to make.

Kick ass raked in $96 mill costing $20 mill to make.

She is out of my league $48 mil costing $20 mill.

i think all 3 movies were well written and wonderfully made and the actors are upcoming.
what could have led to the latter not raking as much as the other two ?

Superbad has over time become a cult classic as it was the introduction for many of these now well-known actors. It's also been around longer and therefore had more time to make sales. Those two factors contribute to the total gross.

Kickass is still relatively new so you can expect it to still grow.

She's Out Of My League is also new but it will likely not make as much money as the two above.

The fact is, none of those 3 are in the same genre, unless you widen the definition of the genre to simple 'comedy'.

Superbad is a teenage comedy.
Kick Ass is an action comedy.
She's Out Of My League is a coming-of-age teenage romantic comedy.
3 VERY different genres.

Genre means a class or category of artistic endeavor having a particular form, content or technique. Saying the above movies are simply comedies is being extremely vague. Mr bean is comedy. Comedy usually does not involve profanity and nudity. i can safely say the 3 movies mentioned above belong to the slapstick comedy genre. they are aimed at younger audience and profanity is part of dialogue. Back to the qxn if you liked superbad probably you also liked youth in revolt, she is out of my league and kick ass. if so why then do they have different gross profits.

factors affecting a movie s gross profit. distribution/marketing?

Lol. Do you feel better having provided the definition of the word "genre", pasted straight from dictionary.com?
Seriously though, I have to disagree that all of these fall under slapstick comedy.
Superbad, yeah I guess. Not 'pie in your face' but close enough.
Kickass, maybe if you extend the boundaries of the genre slightly.
She's Out Of My League? Sorry dude but by no stretch of the imagination can this be categorised as slapstick.
The ONLY thing that links these three movies is the fact that they're all 'comedies'. They definitely don't fall into the same sub-genre.
Unless you're defining slapstick as being all movies aimed at younger audiences with profanity, in which case your definition would be inaccurate anyway so the point is moot.

What you're asking is truly such a vague and likely unanswerable question that no answer is going to accurately portray all the reasons why these three movies have different gross figures.
