So Pete Sampras only took three matches to do what most pro tennis players fail to do most of the year - beat Federer.

Just an edit: I'm not saying Sampras is better than Federer - just that he is still an awesome player in his own right.

All due respect to Sampras, but Federer was only playing at 50% and making it fun to watch.

Federer was kicking his serve to the ad court and chipping his passing shots instead of the bombs he normally sends down

I also think Federer was not playing at 100%. Even with the fast courts and the fact that Sampras could prepare for Federer only I think he will lose in straight sets every time if Federer plays at full strength.

Ja, gotta agree here. The first match it was Federer of normal sending down bombs left and right. Second match was more a "friendly affair" and third match was well, an exhibition with no intensity at all. Put these players on Wimbledon Centre Court and Federer will win 100% of the time in 3 sets today.

But, in his heyday, Sampras would've matched Federer all the way on Grass, Indoor, Cement.

Tis a new generation now sadly.

guys do you think federer wanted to go and beat sampras 6-2 6-2 in all 3 matches?

although sampras has not lost his serve and forehand

remember that the only time before this they met, federer won back in 2002

If they could play each other when they were both at their peak it would be an interesting game.

I think Federer would probably still win but it would be tight.
