Ok, so the 2494 monitor has built in speakers. How will one go about to getting them to work? Will you need a to buy a separate cable or is something like that included with the monitor?

If you hook up your LCD with an HDMI cable you will be able to use your speakers.

Normally included, I had one with an old acer monitor I had. You could also buy a 3.5inch mini jack from some hardware stores and most electronic stores

I don't trust Samsun monitors. :p

Cables are included with the screen to connect to your sound card.

my samsung 2494hs came with 2 of those audio cables, but ive switched over to hdmi, which sends the audio and video signal to the monitor

Depending if the people want to rip you off, from R35 to R100 for a complete cable. But rather ask around here if you don't get one with, maybe someone has one lying around and you can just have it. :D

Monitor

I also have the 2494HS monitor, it came with the following cables:
1xAudio cable (3.5mm jacks on both sides)
1xPower cord
1xDVI cable (No HDMI cable)
1xRGB/VGA cable

Its easy to get the speakers working just plug in the included audio cable (its color coded)
into the back of your sound card and the other point in your Audio In jack on your monitor.

The built-in speakers are not meant for playing movies and music loud although its great
for skype.

Hope this helps

Cheers

I would never use built in speakers on any monitors, even if they come with a woofer and stuff.
Get a simple Creative 2.1 SBS speaker for R200 - R250 and you'll have a mini theater.
